I first suspected where they were after watching one of their videos with a dude who had an English accent almost as horribly French as mine. but with that extra hint of Quebec in it. surprisingly I didn't get that from any of the other reviewers, so they're real good or maybe they got imported? ^_^

Put back my old Noctua F12 fans and all annoying hums are gone. Might get 2 140mm fans eventually to replace it. Unfortunate that the A15 fans that come with the cooler won't be used for the foreseeable future but I never really bought the cooler for practicality reasons anyways.

I think you're on to something here, the 140mm fan on my D14 is the one that resonates a little, maybe because it's a chunky boy inside a large case hanging from a cooler. I might replace it with one of the new A12x25 Noctua fans but they are bloody expensive.....best to wait for a sale I think. XD

I really need to delid my old 3770k as those delidding tools are everywhere now, there should be a good 15C or so drop which will let me bring the fans speeds way down.

I helped some poor old lady who had her car break down at the gas station. Was a vacuum leak on the PCV to intake manifold hose (which caused a high/surging/rough idle), luckily I live around the corner and had some spare hose that was just the right size. She must have some guardian angel as this was the second or third time in 55 years of driving where a random passer-by has helped her immediately with car troubles.

I really feel it's a motor thing for my fans. The sound is the most pronounced when the speed ramps up or slows down, rather than maintaining a specific speed (though the problem does occurs at around 60% fan speed with the low noise adapters according to speedfan). The F12 was amazingly silent until it got near full speed so I was hoping the larger, slower spinning fans would excel even more. :/ Maybe you can consider some of the 120mm Redux fans...or some other brand? I really won't count on Noctua dropping the price on individual fans very often. Maybe 10-20 US freedom units off for a heatsink, but probably not much for a fan.

Sent Noctua an email with some pics. I hope it's just my fans being defective and a replacement for them will solve the issue in the worst case scenario. For now, I've got some be quiet fans arriving. Hopefully those won't have this problem.

Welp, Noctua is offering to send 2 replacement fans to me.

They are asking me to destroy the old fans to avoid the entire RMA process once the new ones arrive. Hurts a bit too destroy two mostly working fans, but understandable. I'll assume they might know the cause and don't need to investigate further. If not, I wouldn't mind investigating more or shipping the fans I have back to them.

I really hope those new ones don't have this annoying sound because breaking these mostly functional, super expensive the fans are enough to deter me from requesting another replacement, even if they do have minor issues that should not be expected from premium products. XD

Worst case, I'll just use the Be Quiet fans that are at the local post office, waiting to be picked up.
