☯️ CAVALLI AUDIO ➜ Liquid Carbon Loyalty/Upgrade Discount

Just trying to confirm something.........Crimson and Glass are both hybrid amps, correct? Also, Glass came after Crimson and is the upgrade?

I'm saying this after hearing the ATH 5050 (also a hybrid) at 2 meets and it smoothed out treble on harsh headphones while keeping the clarity...........completely blew me away, however, it's not available and there's no indication that it'll ever be released so I'm pretty much set on getting Glass or Crimson.

Looking for one that can drive HD800's and Ether C's.

I have not heard the HD800 yet, but the Liquid Glass should be able to drive them. I have used the Liquid Glass to run all of my headphones, and they all sounded great. I had concerns about my Beyerdynamic DT 880 600 ohm headphone and my power hungry Alpha Primes, but they sounded great, and I never once thought they were underpowered. That being said, I would like to try a pair of HD 800's out on my system, just to make sure.:xf_eek:

I hope you guys will allow a reasonable down payment even if not refundable since the build will take several months. Tying up $3K+ during that time is going to be tough on some folks - understanding that you guys need some capital to buy the materials.

Liquid Glass can drive HD800 with no problems. Tried it at a meet.

Sweet thanks for information, it is greatly appreciated. I really need to go to some head-fi meets and try out other headphones.:) I hope you have a great time jamming. Out :)

Surprised you've not heard the HD800 reddog, seeing that you own so many great stuff I would think you at least audition it before. Oh well, I do like your choices though. Twin Ethers FTW.

I have only been in this fantastic hobby for about 2 years, and during that time, I have only seen on local headphone meet. I want to attend some headphones meets and audition other great headphones. I have been thinking about organizing a headphone meet, now that I
No longer have to take care of my mother. Its tempting to move to a state that has a history of putting on great meets, a state like Tennessee or California.:xf_eek:

I think the 50% deposit is reasonable. The Glass is 3499.00, after the discount 2900.00. That's 1450.00 down and 1450.00 when they ship. Sell some gear, cut back on Starbucks. I think I can pull this off. Those carbons don't stay on the classifieds for more than an hour. So that's money in your pocket when your new amp comes in. Might get divorced over this, but I'll have some really nice gear to keep me company, cheers

Both are great amps but they serve slightly different purposes.  The Crimson is hybrid, the Glass is not.  The Crimson isn't meant to be used as a tube roller amp, the Glass has been made specifically to be easy to roll with.  I ended up getting the Crimson over the Glass because I really have no interest in tube rolling.  I bought a really nice tube, threw it in there and forgot about it.  People who enjoy the Glass love having different tubes for different moods or headphones or whatever.

Both will drive the HD800 and Ether C with no problem.  I have the Crimson and HD800 and it's a great pairing.  I've also heard the Ether C with the Crimson and it's what made me fall in love with the Crimson (and the Ether C).  Dan Clark demos the Ether C on both the Crimson and the Glass at meets.

Hope this helps a bit.  At the end of the day, I'd say it'll be hard to go wrong with either.

This. I'm going to be selling a fair amount of equipment to fund purchase of a Glass (I'm pretty sure), and it's going to suck to be without all of that equipment and still NOT have my amp for half a year or so.

I thought Glass was a hybrid too? At least that's what the owner of the Glass at the meet told me.

Others understand far more than me, but Crimson is an "embedded" design in which the tube is part of the circuit, but swapping it out won't have a huge effect on the sound. It's more of a combination solid-state/tube sound that won't change all that much.

In comparison, Glass is really meant to highlight the characteristics of the tubes. The SS portion exists more to just power the tubes and give them a platform to shine.

Also for curious and passionate new owners who wonder, among other things - what is the output impedance of the far left 1/4" jack with the attenuating resistors.

Each channel has a 100R resistor in series with it. Since the native Zo of the amp is in the milliohms, the Zo effectively goes to 100R. This jack is supplied as a convenience for those who have very sensitive headphones and just can't make the vol pot work from the normal output.

Otherwise, it is always best to use the high (really normal) output jack to get the best out of the amp.

Yes the Liquid Glass is a form of hybrid.

Wish I had the LC and the cash to buy a liquid glass to bad it's 4690$ imported to Denmark

I have the same problem, except I have the LC. Would love to own the Liquid Glass but $4690 is simply too much.

We're trying to find a solution to this for 2017.

hey @warrenpchi, would it be possible to show the product page for the crimson on the website? right now its missing. would be helpful for prospective upgraders!

We're actually working on a new web site at the moment.  It should be done soon.

That's what we've been doing, and that's what we'll continue to do for this final run.  You're initial payment will be in the form of a 50% non-refundable deposit (65% in the case of the Liquid Glass).  The rest will be due and payable when your amp is fully-built, fully-tested, and ready to ship.

Actually reddog, Florida has a proud tradition of hosting meets, and it was even the home of a CanJam once upon a time.  My advice is very Gandhi-ish in this area:  "be the change you wish to see in the world."

Yes, something like that.  Though, just to reiterate, the deposit on the Glass is going to be 65%.

  Nooo, please don't do that.
