    Audiotechnica M50's vs V-Moda Crossfade LP's?

So, I'm considering one of the two headphones listed in the title. I know the M50's have a better "overall sound" while the Crossfades are more bass inclined (although good all-around). So if it were just a matter of sound quality, I would buy the M50's. But my issue is with the design and build...

Wife is looking to buy her sister a pair of headphones, help please

My wife wants to buy her sister a pair of headphones and Amazon has the V-Moda LP for $75, will these need a amp if they are used with Iphone, Ipod, Ipad. I don't think her siser will invest in a amp.   Next up is the Sony mdr-v6 for $50 on Amazon.   Thanks

Why are crossfade LP so disliked?

They seem to be just like the sony xb line in a sense. At the times where the price goes down, (like now), they seem like a sensible deal.   Is there something I'm missing? Like for example with the klispch s4's I found the highs were exceedingly screechy. Is it something like that?
