iFi Audio Pro iCAN USA Tour - Rules and Details for Sign-Ups!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

RMAF Update: We know that many of you have been itching to hear the Pro iCAN and to find some news about the upcoming Pro iDSD but first the good news is that a preview unit of the Pro iDSD will be available for demo at this years RMAF! If you're one of the lucky people who'll be attending this year's CanJam, please drop by our booth to check it out!

Pro iCAN USA Tour - Starts here!

Now onto the main subject......we're also excited to announce a Head-Fi exclusive tour of our Pro iCAN!  We know that hearing is believing, so we're taking this opportunity to give some of you a chance to spend quality time with our Pro iCan!

What are we looking for?!

All we are looking for in our tour participants is enthusiasm and an honest review - preferably here on Head-Fi.  Also, since this tour is being fronted by iFi USA, the event will be limited to U.S based members.

Alright, so now the big question is;

How do you sign up?!

It's easy!  The only thing you'll need to do is respond to this thread with the following information:

1) Username

2) Location

3) Tell us the gear that you plan on connecting the Pro up to.

4) If you have any links from reviews that you've done, let us know!

Please note that the deadline for the sign-up process is 10/10/2016, and the individuals selected will be announced and contacted thereafter.

Rules for this Tour:

1) Five Head-Fiers will be selected to participate in this event.

2) Each Head-Fier will be given 2 weeks time to spend with the unit.

3) After the given amount of time has passed, each Head-Fier is responsible for safely packing the unit, shipping the unit to the next Head-Fier, and covering the shipping costs.

4) Each Head-Fier will be required to post a review of the Pro iCAN within 2 weeks of shipping the unit off to the next Head-Fier.

5) Otherwise, the most important thing is to kick back, have fun, and enjoy some of your favorite tunes through the Pro iCAN!

What is the Pro iCan?!

its the first flagship Professional ‘Pro’ series. A studio-grade headphone amplifier AND audiophile line-stage. Inside beats ‘two hearts’ as there is are two individual Solid-State and Tube amplification sections – selectable on the go. There is nothing quite like the Pro iCAN; literally.

Headphone amplifier: The Pro iCAN will for many, be used as a top-of-the-line, headphone amplifier that drives anything and everything – from CIEMs through to the most difficult to drive headphone ever made, the AKG K-1000.

Pre-amplfier: The Pro iCAN has at the core, a Japan Alps motorised rotary volume potentiometer. This is the ‘6-Track’ version with 4 tracks used for a true balanced volume control. This is the litmus test for any amplifier to see if it is truly balanced, or operates internally in single-ended mode. Those using ‘2-Track’ volume controls may offer balanced in and out, but are not true balanced designs. The Pro iCAN however is fully-balanced from beginning to end.

Solid State & Tube state on fly: For the first time, one can enjoy both the sound of Solid-State and Tubes in a single package (rather than as an ‘Effect Type’ add-on within an otherwise conventional solid-state design) and be able to switch in real-time. For some recordings and headphones/loudspeakers, Solid-State may sound ‘more lively.’. For others, Tube and Tube+ (especially Tube+) will sound more ‘luxurious.’ Select the one that sounds best for that particular moment, be it the recording, the mood or even the weather. After all, enjoying music is an experience to be savoured and not a scientific research exercise.

Best of luck and we look forward to hearing from you all!

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR INTEREST IN THE PRO iCAN AND TAKING THE TIME TO SIGN UP FOR THIS TOUR!

The decision-making process for choosing the 5 participants for this tour turned out to be WAY more difficult than expected for our iFi USA Team! We really appreciate each and every one of you for signing up and we wished that we could offer the opportunity to listen to the Pro iCAN to more of you. Unfortunately, the number of review units we have are limited!

Without further ado, we're excited to announce the 5 participants for the iFi Pro iCAN tour!

The five members we would like to invite to participate in the tour are:
@grizzlybeast

This will be the tentative order for the tour as well. We will be contacting you within the next week or so with more details and information for the initiation of the tour!

1) Jwahl
2) Zeeland, MI
3) Sennheiser HD-650 and Fostex TH-X00.  Chord Mojo as source, with USB going through the iUSB 3.0 Micro.
4) HE-1000 reviewed here.
I have also owned a few other high end amps which I think would be comparable.  My current T3, Eddie Current Super 7, and Trafomatic Head 2.  I'm very interested in how the iCan pro sounds.  I was impressed with the standard iCan at it's price point.  But at the Pro's price point, it's hard to justify the future purchase without hearing it first.   The HE-1000 review was done from a similar review circuit.

is that an electrostat amp with a balanced dynamic socket?

what is that?

That does appear to be a KingSound KS-H04 headphone (interesting choice) connected to the iFi device in the first pic. Some Stax in the second. Looks like they finally got there energizer add on ready.

i hope it works with the Koss ESP-950 and is reasonably priced.

Hey @iFi-Audio I'll be at RMAF, so how about I just start my two weeks. It will save you the shipping :)
