MEE Audio's new flagship is now available on their website for $199: http://www.meeaudio.com/pinnacle

Website highlights:

Pinnacle is more than a name - it is a statement that identifies the P1 in-ear headphones as the result of two years of design, engineering, and refinement, the flagship of our critically acclaimed product line, and our highest-performing headphone ever.

Top-tier audio performance was the primary goal of Pinnacle development from day one. To achieve our target frequency response, clarity, and resolution, the P1 utilizes an advanced high-impedance moving coil transducer and patented acoustic diffuser.

The Pinnacle P1 was engineered to deliver engaging, dynamic audio with great clarity and crisp detailing. The tuning target was developed by combining our past in-ear earphone experience with feedback from fans and critics to create a sound that is rich and musical, yet remains accurate to the source and makes audible the finest nuances in your music. The bass is impactful but never overwhelms the rest of the audio spectrum, so you won’t have to strain to hear the details. Add the natural soundstage and excellent handling of spatial cues and the result is an unparalleled concert-in-your-head experience*.

The Pinnacle P1 utilizes a proprietary 10mm moving coil driver with 50Ω impedance to improve performance at the extremes of the frequency range. The dynamic driver delivers a full-bodied bass note and slightly warm tonal character while retaining high levels of resolution and refinement. A copper-clad aluminum voice coil is used reduce the driver’s moving mass, allowing for faster, more controlled driver movement and raising high frequency performance and resolution.

A proprietary sound chamber and damping scheme provide the best balance of treble extension and smooth-in-the-ear response. The P1’s patented acoustic diffuser takes advantage of the directional nature of treble (high frequency) sound waves, forcing select frequencies to resonate before reaching the ear to ensure coherency and smoothness. This effectively improves the detailing and high-frequency extension of the P1 without adding harshness, resulting in treble that is extended and energetic, but also smooth for a more realistic sound with improved detail resolution and handling of spatial cues.

The earpieces are die-cast from a zinc alloy – a world’s first for in-ear earphones – and hand-polished to provide a look and feel worthy of a flagship. Zinc alloy is more rigid and has better impact resistance than aluminum, yet offers significant weight savings compared to stainless steel, resulting in a less bulky feel in the ear.

  1. High-fidelity in-ear headphones utilize an advanced moving coil transducer and

Very interested. I've always been pleasantly surprised by Meelec's price/performance ratio, but I've only ever listened to their IEMs and headphones below $50. I wonder if they can tackle the mid-range bracket...

I was impressed with their single armature a161p that was their previous flagship a couple of years ago. It was $99 when it first released. Hopefully this one surpasses that will better extension at both ends and a bit more body.

Very handsome looking phone. Dynamic driver and promise of a great soundstage have me interested for sure.

I will probably place an order by the weekend. Was hoping for someone else to go first but I've been looking forward to this iem for over a year...

That'll be awesome! Yeah I've also my eye on this IEM since CES of last year.

Yeah, for this year these are the only iems aside from the possible vsonic gr07's upgrades that I'm interested in, but I also kinda wanted to wait for someone else's impressions as mee have been going for more general consumers' and sports oriented stuff for the past couple of years

add 1 to the list of those waiting for the initial reviews....finding hard not to just go ahead and buy these. I've found the early adopter deal on the 2nd gen a151p was one of the better audio decisions I've made. I find them to be my hands down best value award....was hoping these were just a elevated version of those. But since its only been a couple of weeks since my last iem purchase and it was a big disappointment, I'm trying to hold off on these....ughhh.

Great review mate.

mee a151 was my first true good iem. This will be on my radar for sure.Although u have compared this to dn 2000j but i will ask again.

Would this be a substitute considering i mostly listen to classical, progressive rock and occasionally rap?

For me it's not just a substitute but a replacement   DN2kJ gets a bit harsh in the upper mids/treble and looses some body in lower mids. P1 is quite amazing, and with Comply tips gets warmer and smoother and... more forgiving

Well I bit, should have a summary review up in a week or so.

I wonder how they compare to my E100? Seriously, after spending only $12 for my all time favorite headphone I've become so CHEAP when it comes to trying other headphones. $400 DAP?
No problem! But $200 for some headphones? Gross! :p

It's like, I don't doubt this sounds good but does it sound $200 good? I dunno...

I do like that it's dynamic. If there's something the likes of the E100 and MDR-EX1000 have shown to me is that this, dare I say fad, with all this multi-BA IEM's (especially the high-end ones that have 80 drivers per ear /s) is that dynamic can sound just as good if not BETTER than BA.
