Fiio X5 - Custom/Modded firmwares

Darn, Aztecno themes's a steal, can we ask CH23 to make the 90% version?

@CH23 can we request 90° rotated menu reversed scrolling for Aztecno theme's?

Maybe all the function can join together and make the better firmware , such a wet dream , hope it's granted :)

Good job all

Regards,
Vayz

Sure he can use the files i uploaded for it, it's all FiiO's property anyways

I have no idea how to repack and flash the firmware. LOL.

If you put the files all with the correct name in the correct folders, and it's all in the folder "X5", just doubleclick on "pack.bat" and a new x5.fw should be created in the same folder (as where you have the bat files, exe file, and x5 folder)

Load the x5.fw onto a micro SD card and put it in the 1st slot of the X5, now start the X5 by holding the power and top left silver button.

Hahahaha, I compiled and reflashed and everything was white!
After a second of panic I realised I forgot to change everything back to the original names.
When I was editing for convenience I changed all the modified files to "FALSE [file name].png".
I forgot to rename them when I was done!

Anyway here it is running on my X5!

Keeping in mind this is just an Alpha Build with just the Launch screen modified.
It Flashes safely, but the theme is hardly done yet.

That's great work.

Here is some things you need to take into consideration:
  1. Main Menu Icons: Using custom icons may look awesome and more fitting with the theme but it will make it harder to browse. Thinking that your theme is "Aztechno" you could consider combining the Aztec "calendar" wheel with modern techno icons that could be matrix-like styled. You will need to test it to make sure everything fits but I think it's worth the try.
  2. Header text: I noticed that your header text is red. I read somewhere that this text was non-moddable at this time. CH23 will probably be able to confirm

The Icons are in a testing phase, they do look a lot crispier in person, and the red text up top makes it hard to forget what you are looking at,
but I will continue to keep modifying changing them, perhaps by making them clearer, maybe even adding text.
I was about to ask about the text colour, but if it's unchangeable, I'll have to work around it.
Thanks for the input!

Your theme look fantastic but wonder if it would look better with the wheel at the bottom as there would be no cut off of icons on the top and bottom.

CH23 done this and made a very good job of it and its now my default theme (with the darker disc playing screen)

I might make a vertical version of it if CH23 shares his secrets!

Check out one of my builds, and copy X5\coordinate\launcher.ini

Then rotate the scrollwheel images, and redo the wallpaper for 90° shifted icons/scrollwheel.

I am pretty sure that once you see your theme with wheel at the bottom you will love it.

MANY THANKS TO ALL YOU NICE PEOPLE

Aztechno Beta 1.0 completed! (Based on Fiio Firmware release 2.0)
Use at your own peril, but know that I am currently using it just fine on my X5, no problems.
Let me know if you see any bugs and all that jazz.
In the next build I will redo the topbar which I'm not happy with.

Many thanke
