Just received my new Spirit One today, and my initial experience is positive. Clear, warm sounding phones with nice bass impact where it should be, and very decent isolation. For someone with a larger head, like myself, they are quite tight on the head (well, they probably should be for the sake of isolation), and the clamping force makes them a bit uncomfortable for lodger listening sessions. As I plan to use this one as one of my phones on the go, it doesen´t worry me too much, but it´s worth mentioning. Too bad the headband can't be extended just a bit more. Also I like the looks of them, and the build quality seems sturdy enough. That they come with a storing case is also practical when traveling with them.

In short, very positive first impression, so now I´m just curious how my large head will feel after some usage.

@ dauder2 - Try the Philips Fidelio L1.  It's semi-closed but sure sounds good to me.  Odd that you've gone through two pairs with that problem.  What other headphones do you own and what's your source gear and files?

I find the Focal's to sound wonderful.  I detect no hissing, etc.  The bass has such good impact without it being over pronounced like the L1 can at times.

My corporate discount brings it to $288, but the 9.75% sales tax killed my discount so I am gonna wait to get it.  Maybe I can get a deal somehow in the future.  I just hate paying retail and sales tax on top of that.
