Then to the right on their page open up all the comments from other people. A person suggests they make an MP3 player. and Fiio answered saying that X3 project has already been restarted!

I highly doubt that Fiio would challenge the DX100 to be honest. I'd really love for Fiio to keep the old price point.

Well I guess someone already let the cat out - I already know the for a few months now, but nevertheless was told not to let anyone know until they are ready. I think I can let some less important detail out at this point: First, it won't be the same X3 we discussed before. It is a brand new project under the old name so the hardware will be different. 2nd, FiiO will go for a more common platform (relative to the Chinese market). So hopefully no more dreadful SoC supplier that halts up the R&D.

Any idea when Fiio will release specs throw up some pics and give a release date?

I only heard some minor detail myself, no picture or detailed spec, but that was months ago and I haven't heard any update so far. The whole point of being secretive is just trying to avoid another X3 (or should I say the 'previous' X3) incident where products can't be delivered on time / as promised. They are trying to be more careful on information release this time so not to disappointed users.

Looks like I stumbled across something that was possibly not mean't to be spoken about just yet, then dragged it back to the fortress of expectation. I don't mind how long Fiio take, what specs, pictures are released etc etc....I think it's a prize in itself that we know a DAP is coming sometime in the foreseeable future from Fiio and that they haven't forgotten about our calls and shouts for a player. This is something I'd been hoping they'd continue working on and to see they are is enough for me to relax and wait.

Patience is a virtue.

This thread just reminded me about the iBasso.  I saw it at a local meet a couple of weeks ago and had never previosly even heard of it - then I forgot about it again. Amazing since a quick search shows that there are well over 10,000 posts about it already.  But at that price, esp since I just want a coax out, I'll just wait for the Fiio.
