I can do some comparisons and will add to the review here later. I don't own the Z1R and or A8000. I have the Luna and SA6. MEST, IT07, Volt and Solaris.
I am certain with more reviews there will be more comparisons done. But my main goal was to give a good idea of the tuning and sound profile of the Zens for this review.
Nice review. Coming from the original JH13 pro v1 Ciem, I am now thinking about getting either the ibasso IT07 or the Dunu Zen. Both inears seem to be very highly recommended for metal. I am more of an all sorts of music listener. As a teen I listened to bands like Pink Floyd, Kiss, AC/DC, Dire Straits and Fleetwood Mac. Nowadays I also listen to contemporary jazz, singer/songwriters, modern country, ambient and even goa trance or classical music, depending on a daily mood. Therefore I am searching for an allround iem to listen to all kinds of music genres. Thanks for a little help regarding one or the other mentioned above.
Both earphones are tuned extremely well. I would give the IT07 a leg up on extension for bass and one of the best bass performers for the price. If you want one of the best hybrids in the game right now the IT07 is just this. Zen however excels with guitars and vocals be it from rock to speed metal. You really cant go wrong with either choice to be honest.
If isolation matters to you Zens are semi open and do not isolate as much as the IT07. IT07 has one of the best isolating earphones for hybrids or otherwise. It has at least 30dbs of isolation in my guesstimation and the Zens about 24dbs.
