Tripowin Zonie Lavender Cable Review: Comfort and Beauty
Today, we’re taking a look at a budget-friendly aftermarket cable made by Tripowin: the Zonie Lavender. I don’t usually purchase aftermarket cables, but this one was unavoidable. My wife took a strong liking to the Rose QT-X, both in terms of aesthetics and sound. However she couldn’t use the stock cable as she doesn’t have any 4.4mm compatible sources. So, we went on a journey to my spare cable box and found that all of my 3.5mm 2-pin cables were either “too ugly” or did not fit comfortably. We searched for a while before finding the Zonie Lavender on sale on Amazon for a paltry $18. With such a low buy-in (and such a “cute” design), I immediately ordered it for her.
Well, it has arrived. Is it comfortable? Is it built well? Is it compatible with the QT-X? Will my wife think it is cute after seeing it in person? Read on to find out!
You can find the Zonie for sale here, on Amazon, and here, on Linsoul.
Packaging
The Zonie’s packaging is minimalist, but effective.
The Lavender arrived in a simple, effective package. The outer packaging is made from single-layer cardboard, inside of which is the cable secured in a zip-lock baggie. The package arrived clean and in good condition.
Construction
Zonie Lavender has a neat and consistent braid.
The Lavender is visually-striking. Like the other members of the Zonie family, this is a 16-core, silver-plated copper cable. It comes in a TON of different configurations, including 2-pin, 2-pin recessed, and MMCX with your choice of a 2.5mm, 3.5mm, or 4.4mm termination. I went with the standard 0.78mm 2-pin connector and 3.5mm termination.
Metal-shelled MMCX connectors.
Tripowin’s 2-pin connectors feature a thin metal shell with color-coded plastic mounts for the pins, with red denoting right and clear denoting left. The connectors are the backed onto a clear-plastic earguide that is secured to the inside of the connector casing. The 2-pins are embedded precisely and have no bend or curve. They fit easily and with minimal resistance in the Rose QT-X and ClearTune Monitors Da-Vinci X.
The Zonie’s 16-core braid is split in a metal cylinder that is securely fastened to the cable. Inspecting the interior of the Y-splitter reveals a neat and clean braid split.
Tripowin’s choice of 3.5mm termination is good. It features a metal shell and alloy-coated 3.5mm jack. On the opposite end of the termination is a two-tier rubber stopper, intended to provide strain-relief in case the cable it pulled at an acute angle.
Comfort
Tripowin’s use of a “lose” braid style allows the Zonie to feel almost soft to the touch. The Zone is pliable and compliant, with almost zero bend memory. It isn’t particularly dense either, making it conduct little noise while walking. The Zonie’s earguides are molded nicely and do not produce any itch, even during extended listening session.
Conclusion
The Zonie Lavender is a well-built cable that looks and feels premium. It is visually striking and comfortable. At $18, there’s not a single complaint, nit-pick, or criticism I can levy at it. Being available on Amazon, acquiring the Zonie is extremely easy for Prime members with a short 2-day waiting period for shipping. For international buyers, Linsoul should have you covered with reliable delivery. Listeners who need a new cable should absolutely consider the Zonie. Even if Lavender is not your taste, Tripowin offers a large selection of colors, so there’s something for everyone.
Thanks for making my wife happy, Tripowin. And, as always, happy listening!
