TRI I3 MK3 : A KEEPER!

The TRI I3 MK3 is the 3rd addition to the i3 lineup , known for its unique driver combination and sound. The MK3 is no different than that , it features 1d+1ba+pr driver combination and is very hard to see at the price of 219$ . Usually other's settle down with a hybrid driver configuration but TRI went the extra step and made a tribrid at this price and its actually deserves the title "KEEPER!"

BUILD & DESIGN

Since the TRI I3 MK3 is made of CNC machined aluminium alloy they look and feel absolutely solid, TRI didn’t leave any space to complain about their build here! Design wise they have a similar design which has been slightly changing over each generation and I think TRI has finally nailed it with I3 MK3 , switching to a completely unique color and to a matte texture was indeed a wise decision and something I personally dig a lot!

FIT & COMFORT

Fit wise it's nearly perfect , only nitpick would be how protruding the nozzle is but a larger eartip fixed the issue for me. And comfort on these are just too good , due to their smooth surface and the way shells are shaped. I didn't find any sort of discomfort even in prolonged periods of usage.

DSC_0008 (74).jpg

CABLE

TRI has provided their “Grace Pro” with the I3 MK3 and I absolutely just love this cable! It is a 5N OOC plated silver cable also it is braided in 2 core manner and I just love this type of braiding and more importantly the cable has very minimal memory to it. Lastly, something I personally want in every stock cable is that a 4.4mm balanced termination and they did provide a 4.4mm balanced termination but if I really have to nitpick an interchangeable would've been an even better option!

DSC_0046 (13).jpg

SOUND

The TRI I3 MK3 has a balanced tuning with emphasis put on the upper midrange and the air region. The bass is clean but rather on the subtle side of things keeping the vocals and instruments as the main priority. Treble is clean while staying energetic and bright.

1734378551843.png

SUB-BASS

Sub bass on the I3 Mk3 is more focused on how clean the overall presentation is rather than a huge amount of it. It sounds like it's in the background, but it always keeps its presence noticeable. This is definitely not for people who want earth shaking rumble but targeted towards those who want a clean subtle rumble in this music.

MID-BASS

Midbass follows the same path as the sub-bass as it is definitely there but more on the subtle side . The thump or slam is very clean and tight. It adds a slight warmth in the lower midrange while not bleeding or making the lower mids sound bloaty and it has a good body to it , not only that the midbass also has a decent texture to it.

MALE VOCALS

The male vocal reproduction is a bliss for people who want slightly warm male vocals , they are rich, smooth and well textured. It sounds very natural and well bodied here. And its presentation is slightly forward in the mix which I personally like but it might not be for people who want them to take a laid back presentation.

FEMALE VOCALS

Female vocals are the best part of it in my opinion, they are presented in a smooth and energetic manner. I really enjoyed listening to female artists alot with this iem , they sound lively and rich. Also they are quite forward in the mix too but in some tracks it might sound they are just a bit too upfront. Also due to extra emphasis on the upper midrange it might sound a bit too energetic to some.

DSC_0064-Enhanced-NR-2.jpg

INSTRUMENTS

Instruments sound great , they sound just right nor too thin or thick also I didn't find any presence of any metallic timber here. They are upfront but some might find them to be too "in your face" in some tracks. Other than that instrument sound reproduction is one of its highlights!

TREBLE

As mentioned previously its treble is very airy due to the emphasis in the air region. It's sparkly , energetic and bright but not only that it also has good extension to it but this type of treble is not for everyone , to some in prolonged periods of usage it might be fatiguing. But people who like such energetic and airy treble will love this.

DSC_0049 (11).jpg

SOUNDSTAGE & IMAGING

Soundstage is above average for the price , only nitpick would be that it lacks the width , it's not like its sounds intimate or compressed just falls slightly short compared to some which excel in this price. Depth and height wise it excels , no complaints regarding that.

Imaging is really good here , you can very easily pinpoint the placement of each instrument or even faint vocals in the background, they did a really good job in terms of imagining.

DETAIL RETRIEVAL & LAYERING

Details retrieval is just decent or average , nothing to write home about to be honest , still it picks up some micro nuances and subtleties in the music .

Layering is another aspect where it's just decent , you can definitely hear each layer but not as clearly but then again it's just nitpicking at this point.

DYNAMICS & TRANSIENT RESPONSE

Dynamics wise i expected more from it but it's just good or average if i say so. But transient response is the section where it excels , no matter what I threw at it , it just didn't fall back. It kept up with everything , it didn't sound slow or sluggish at all.

Introduction:

When I started my audio journey I knew TRI brand for it's cable and other accessories though they have IEM but I was able to a few of them also can't become fan of them but then I tried TRI I3 Mark iii and this just surprised me . In my opinon right now 200$ is the most busy and competitive market . You will find many IEM's in this range from different brands but it creates it's own place . This IEM comes with tribrid configuration( 1DD , 1 BA and lastly 1Planar) and the implementation is also impressive .
IMG_20241028_235211_092.jpg

Build & Design:

The design of TRI I3 MK3 is very simple but it looks elegant . It has a very sattle wave design on the faceplate which become apeling on top of that it is full made out of matel housing with mate finish . You might find more beautiful set in this range but it has it's own place . It is right that design varies person to person but if you are finding simple with good then it's can good option for you

Fit & Comfort:

TRI I3 MK3 has 3 different drivers in it so it is quite easy to say IEM drivers unit will be quite in size . Well the fun fact is they might be comfy for most of the ears and the reason is they are very lightweight , fully made out of alloy , ergonomic design . If you choose current tips you can use them for long session.

Source & Pairing:

I had used quite different types source to power them but they are mostly dongles . One thing to mention being being a tribrid they are quite easy to drive . In my testing I will say my sources was enough capable to power them up.

IMG_20241028_235210_680.jpg

Sound Quality:

Sub-Bass:

The TRI I3 MK3 offers a well-balanced sub-bass experience that many audiophiles appreciate for its precision and control. The sub-bass provides a satisfying rumble, but it doesn't overwhelm the rest of the sound spectrum. This creates a clear and immersive listening experience, particularly for tracks that require depth without sacrificing clarity. The beryllium dynamic driver contributes to the bass's speed and tightness, ensuring that bass notes are well-defined and responsive. While the bass is not excessively boosted, it maintains enough presence to add warmth and depth to the music without bleeding into the midrange. This makes the TRI I3 MK3 a great option for listeners who enjoy detailed, layered soundscapes rather than a dominant bass profile.

Mid-bass:

The mid-bass of the TRI I3 MK3 is both quick and impactful, offering a pleasing thump that adds energy to the listening experience. Its speed helps maintain a clean separation from the midrange, so the bass doesn't overpower the clarity of vocals and instruments. This makes the sound warm and inviting, while still keeping the balance intact. The warmth of the mid-bass adds depth to the music, making elements like drums and bass guitar sound more full-bodied and natural. Instruments in the mid-bass region come through clearly, giving a satisfying richness that is enjoyable to listen to across various genres.

Male-Vocals:

The TRI I3 MK3 delivers male vocals with a rich, full-bodied presentation. They sound thick and well-textured, offering a sense of depth that adds warmth and realism to the listening experience. This makes vocals feel more immersive, capturing the natural nuances of the singer’s voice. The textured nature of the male vocals ensures that details come through clearly, allowing listeners to appreciate every breath and subtle inflection. This characteristic makes the I3 MK3 particularly enjoyable for genres that rely heavily on vocal performances, like acoustic or jazz. The warmth of the presentation doesn’t come at the expense of clarity, as the vocals remain well-separated from other elements in the sound, maintaining a balanced and pleasing mix.

Female-Vocals :

The female vocals on the TRI I3 MK3 are smooth and melodious, making them a pleasure to listen to. They have a delightful sparkle that adds a touch of brightness without becoming harsh or sharp. This sparkle enhances the clarity of the vocals, giving them an airy feel that blends well with the overall sound. Despite the brightness, the vocals remain full-bodied, which adds depth and richness to the higher notes. The result is a balanced and engaging listening experience that highlights both the clarity and warmth of female voices, making the TRI I3 MK3 great for vocal-heavy tracks.

IMG_20241028_235211_165.jpg

Instrument Separation:

The TRI I3 MK3 excels in instrument separation, making it a standout choice for complex and busy tracks. Thanks to its tribrid configuration—using dynamic, balanced armature, and planar magnetic drivers—it delivers clear and well-defined sound across the frequency range. This setup allows each instrument to occupy its own space in the mix, which is particularly noticeable in fast or layered tracks. Even when the music becomes intense, you can easily distinguish between guitars, drums, and background elements without them blending into each other. The quick response of the drivers ensures that transitions between different instruments are smooth and precise, maintaining clarity and detail throughout the listening experience. This makes the TRI I3 MK3 a great choice for listeners who appreciate intricate compositions and enjoy picking out individual sounds within a track. The spaciousness and separation create a more immersive and engaging listening experience, perfect for audiophiles seeking refined sound.

Technical Performance:

While the TRI I3 MK3 is not tuned for technical performance, it surprisingly manages to impress on detail retrieval. Both macro and micro details are clear, and there is a high ability to easily pick up even the most subtle music nuances. The detail is presented in such a way that feels natural and engaging, rather than analytical: musical and enjoyable. Where the I3 MK3 really seems to shine is in its ability to convey a sense of technicality while presenting itself smooth and rich. So, this could be perfect for anyone whose taste is geared toward clarity and warmth. It was a good balance that managed not to sacrifice the overall musicality of the sound for that much-needed depth.

Timbre & Tonality:

In my opinion TRI I3 MK3 offers the best timbre and tonality in its range and when I paired with dc04 pro they were just perfect. Timbre and tonality of IEM is very natural with good amount of sparkle so you can enjoy the vocals and instruments without being overwhelming or fatiguing.

Compare with others in this range :

200 Dollars range is becoming more competitive day by day.
It is kindda good for consumers level for having multiple options. Well, now I gonna share personal preference IEM in this price range.

Simgot EA1000 Fermet:

In a single word it's a "Technical beast " for those who love Technical sounding IEM. Being a single DD with a passive radiator they provide excellent sound with bass , mids and treble there is a but for this IEM the timbre and tonality its natural so those who vocals they are maybe not gonna like them also the upper mids and treble may bit shouty for some listeners but this offers some ggod things for some listeners you can hear mirco new ouns with good soundstage and the driver quality or capability whatever you say of this IEM is really praisable . If you are able to MOD them with also they offer interchangeable nozzle and power them up with warm or musical source you will have a great time with them .
IMG_20241028_235210_738.jpg

Dunu falcon ultra regular or titanium edition:

Well, falcon ultra is the complete opposite of EA1000 cause the way it's sound is very melodious also you are not gonna missing other technical things like separation, stage imaging. If we start how does this thing sound they are bit warm sounding IEM the bass section is perfect for genre like hip-hop, pop, electronics the vocals are bodied and fuller to enjoy and the higher frequencies have perfect balance to not being tooo much sparklier or to dark in easy words they sounds relaxing for me. If I talk about unboxing expirence and accessories than Dunu knows the business it provides everything you will need it doesn’t mean TRI didn't provide
Good stuff in their box they also provide very good accessories but their stock cable is very good for the price .

Well, I thing TRI I3 MK3 stands between Dunu and Simgot also they are many things available in this range I really sorry couldn't cover them up honorable mention IKKO OH10S , Aful Performer5 , Hidiz MP145 , QOA Adonis New these are my favorite in this range but I will try cover them up near future.

Lastly, I thing TRI I3 MK3 is perfect for those who want a good balanced sounding IEM for long listening and to not miss anything. It covers almost every genre perfectly .

This was my thought about TRI I3 MK3 . Let me know your thought about this IEM
Till then keep listening and enjoying
L
LikeHolborn
Actually it might be competitive to a certain wooden thieaudio at the 200$ mark 😗

TRI I3 MK3–Smooth Sounds and Elegant Looks
Pros: + Premium Build Quality with Aluminum Alloy Shell
+ Smooth and Balanced Sound Signature
+ Smooth, Rich Sibilance Free Midrange
+ Eye-catching Design with Purple Color Scheme
+ Good Detail Retrieval and Resolution
Cons: - Limited Cable Termination (Only 4.4mm Option)
- Earhook of Cable May Require Adjustment for Some Users
- Need Good Source To Unlock True Potencial Sound
Tri, a sub-brand of KBear, consistently releases IEMs that capture attention. The third version of the Tri i3 has arrived recently, ready to make waves in the market with its intriguing configuration... This IEM features a combination of planar, balanced armature sonion (BA), and dynamic driver (DD). Let's discuss it further...

Packaging & Accessories:

The TRI i3 Mk3 comes in a good size box with an elegant design, giving it a premium feel. Inside, along with The IEMs feature 2-pin 0.78mm connectors, you'll find Tri a microfiber cleaning cloth, a nozzle cleaner, and a TRI-branded carrying case, Cable which features:
- The 612-core 5N OCC silver-plated coaxial cable enhances signal transmission and minimizes interference. however, that the cable only has a 4.4mm termination, which might limit compatibility with some setups.
Also there plenty of Ear Tips:
- With eleven pairs of ear tips included, you can find the perfect fit for comfort and sound isolation. Experiment with different tip materials (regular silicon, tri clarion, foam, etc.) to optimize your listening experience.

Build Quality, Fit & Design:

Stylish Build with Precision-Carved Aluminum Housings:

The TRI i3 Mk3 features solid aluminum ear shells meticulously crafted with CNC machining, resulting in a sleek and premium appearance. Its anodized finish not only prevents scratches but also maintains a pristine shine. As someone with a fondness for purple, I was immediately drawn to its elegant design. The simple yet sophisticated shell design exudes a sense of luxury.

The purple color adds a refreshing touch, making the TRI i3 Mk3 stand out from the crowd. Attention to detail is evident throughout, ensuring these IEMs not only look sharp but also withstand daily use while delivering an exceptional listening experience.

While the cable impresses with its sound performance, I've noticed that the earhooks occasionally detach from my ears. This issue might be resolved with some heat adjustment to better fit individual ear shapes. Nonetheless, the cable itself boasts solid build quality, featuring a robust design with an appealing matte white finish.

Recently, I switched to the "CVJ Cable" 3.5mm cable paired with a 4.4mm DDHiFi adapter and Dac IBasso DC07 Pro, enhancing my audio setup even further.

I've noticed that these IEMs are somewhat power-hungry. To fully unleash their potential, I recommend using them in high gain mode as well.

Specifications:

The TRI i3 Mk3 integrates a hybrid driver setup including planar, balanced armature (Sonion BA), and dynamic drivers. This combination aims to deliver a cohesive sound profile that blends warmth with clarity across the frequency spectrum. Key specs include:

>Hybrid Configuration:
The TRI i3 Mk3 boasts a sophisticated hybrid design, combining three distinct driver types for a rich and balanced sound signature. Here's what each driver brings to the table:
- 10mm Planar Magnetic Driver:
The planar magnetic driver delivers precise and detailed sound across the frequency spectrum. Its ultra-thin diaphragm responds swiftly to audio signals, resulting in accurate bass, mids, and treble.
- 10mm Beryllium Diaphragm Dynamic Driver (DD):
The beryllium diaphragm DD unit contributes to impactful bass reproduction. Beryllium is known for its stiffness and lightweight properties, allowing for tight and controlled low-end performance.
- Sonion 2356 Mid-Range Balanced Armature (BA) Driver:
The mid-range BA driver ensures smooth and natural vocals. It captures the emotional nuances of music without harshness or sibilance. Instruments also benefit from a full-bodied presentation.
>Craftsmanship and Build Quality:
- The CNC-machined metallic housing not only looks elegant but also contributes to acoustic stability. It minimizes unwanted vibrations and resonances.
- The premium finish with an anodized oxidation process adds durability and aesthetic appeal.
>Acoustic Dampers:
- The TRI i3 Mk3 includes three pairs of Knowles acoustic dampers. These allow you to fine-tune the sound by adjusting the airflow within the IEMs.

Sound Quality:
Let's break down the sound quality starting with the different sections:

Starting Wth The Bass:

The bass of the TRI i3 Mk3 is tight and controlled, providing a satisfying low-end presence that's well-defined and responsive. While it may not reach the deepest rumble of higher-end models, it strikes a balance that appeals to listeners who prioritize accuracy and agility. This makes it suitable for genres like jazz, acoustic, and music that values detailed bass textures.

Midrange:

Moving to the midrange, the TRI i3 Mk3 impresses with its smooth and natural presentation. Vocals are clear and realistic, capturing the emotional nuances of music without any harshness or sibilance. Instruments also benefit from a full-bodied sound that enhances their presence, making it ideal for folk, classical, and vocal-centric genres.

Treble:

So, how about the treble? even too i say its smooth sound..? Is it still pleasant or crisp, not a muddy one, pluck guitar is still engaging to hear, violin sounds as good as the real sound, it's not the most shrill you can find but still good violin sound, you still can hear a good amount of 'teck teck' from cymbals too.... soo the treble Is it airy or dry? It's neither, it's in the middle; I quite enjoy the treble in this set, to be honest.. i can hear this iem all day for how sooting the sound

Soundstage & Technicalities:

I like the tonality, so how about the technical aspects? Hmm, good for me.. The soundstage isn't the widest you can find but rather very intimate, the 3D imaging and depth in this IEM is what I like, you can clearly hear where instruments or sounds are coming from and their placement i kinda like using this iem for movie and some game tho..

oh man, the timbre.. "It has BA drivers, it must have that signature sound, I don't like it" but I strongly say this IEM doesn't have that BA timbre at all, it's quite natural and also smooth so you can enjoy any song without worry and for long listening sessions. So that's what impresses me in this IEM, resolution is also good, it has good clarity and man its very detailed for such smooth, balanced, and non-analytical sound.. Approved!!

Pros:

+ Premium Build Quality with Aluminum Alloy Shell
+ Smooth and Balanced Sound Signature
+ Smooth, Rich Sibilance Free Midrange
+ Eye-catching Design with Purple Color Scheme
+ Good Detail Retrieval and Resolution

Cons:
- Limited Cable Termination (Only 4.4mm Option)
- Earhook of Cable May Require Adjustment for Some Users
- Not The Best Bass Rumble And Texture You Can Find
- Need Good Source To Unlock True Potencial Sound

So, this IEM has a balanced tuning then? I would say yes! It's a very balanced set, everything is perfectly right measured 'for me', from the bass, vocals, treble, to the technical aspects, I just like it a lot.... One of the best IEMs I've tried in 2024,? could be.. It has a special spot for me.

Is it worth buying at its price? "it's not that cheap, the price is $219"–absolutely!!. just look at how beautiful the shell and color are, I immediately grabbed this IEM.. the sound doesn't disappoint, just as beautiful as the looks...

My Rating:
- Low: ★★★★✮
- Mid: ★★★★★
- High: ★★★★✮
- Technical: ★★★★★ (4.9 / 5)

Nice review. As a treble-sensitive guy, I felt the upper frequencies were a bit spicy for me. Other than that, it's a nice set to play around with.

TRI I3 MK3: UNVEILING THE EXCELLENCE
_______________________________________________

The TRI I3 MK3 is a gorgeous IEM aimed at delivering high-fidelity sound at an affordable price. Combining the rather rare setup of a dynamic driver, balanced armature, and planar magnetic driver, this IEM promises to bring detail and immersion into the listening experience. The earphone was designed with a target in mind: audiophiles who like balanced sound but with a slight emphasis on upper mids. The IEM is especially good for rock, classical, and jazz genres, where separation of instruments and clarity is a must. Further complemented by high-grade accessories and a premium cable, these actually raise the bar on the value equation. In this review, we go through different aspects of the IEM: build quality, comfort, and sound performance over a variety of music genres. Whether you are an audiophile searching for a new daily driver or a music lover wanting more for less, the TRI I3 MK3 is definitely something you want to audition.

CONTEXT:

The TRI I3 MK3 is the latest iteration in the TRI I3 series, known for its innovative driver configuration and impressive sound quality. TRI Audio has consistently aimed to provide high-end audio performance at a reasonable price, and the I3 MK3 is no exception. This IEM targets users who prioritize a balanced and detailed sound signature, offering a significant upgrade from entry-level models. It has the potential to be paired with any device, but it needs some more juice to drive.

I tested it with my Planue R2 & Hiby R3 DAPs and my Moondrop Dawn Pro & ifi Hip DAC 2 DACs. They are all capable of running it. With 3.5mm single-ended, it does the job, but with 4.4mm or 2.5mm balanced output, it shows its original nature. The stock cable is not just good; it’s super worthy and capable of presenting the IEM’s real signature. And among the supplied tips, there is Clarion, one of my most favorite tips. So, there is no cable shuffling or tips rolling this time. You don’t need to buy a single thing, like an upgraded cable or after-market ear tips for fit & comfort; this is your full package.

UNBOXING EXPERIENCE:

TRI I3 MK3 The earphones are shipped in a medium-sized box. Opening it reveals an array of neat accessories inside that show the brand has put much attention to detail. BUILD QUALITY & DESIGN:

The I3 MK3 shells are well-built with strong aluminum alloy shells. The shells are durable, elegantly designed, and in a matte purple color that is sleek. Being metal, they ensure longevity and make the earphones resistant to everyday wear and tear. They are pretty lightweight, though. The shell coating makes fingerprints register, which is a nice touch.

The cable is also precisely made, and it looks premium and beautiful. The stock ear tips are of soft silicon, and they really fit well in the ears; comfort is good. In general, the build quality of the IEM is great, sturdily built but still aesthetically pleasing; these can definitely last daily use while looking and feeling premium.

FIT & COMFORT:

The ergonomically designed shape ensures they fit just right in medium-sized ears, providing a secure and comfortable seal. The earphones are light in weight, which might help avoid ear fatigue even during prolonged use. The I3 MK3 has a carefully designed shape that matches the contours of the ears, ensuring a snug fit that stays in place if one moves around. The ear tips included, especially the Clarion tips, make it better with very good noise isolation and a comfy seal.

Likewise, the cable attached to the I3 MK3 is soft and tangle-free, adding to the comfort. The wire does not cause microphonics, which are unwanted sounds caused by the cable rubbing against clothes or any other surface. This will let the user have an uninterrupted and very blissful experience of listening. Overall, the I3 MK3 has flagship-level fit and comfort.

ARIF8254-Enhanced-NR.jpg

SOUND IMPRESSION:

The TRI I3 MK3 is fairly accurately tuned to deliver a balanced sound with a slight emphasis on the upper mids. The bass has body and authority but doesn't overwhelm the other frequencies, striking a nice balance. Vocals come out energetic and powerful; male and female vocals have a slight shine that adds to the energy. Treble is well-extended and bright, sometimes sparkly, which may prove a bit fatiguing to treble-sensitive ears.

Here is the frequency graph for you-

Freq. Graph.jpg

SUB-BASS:

The sub-bass performance is well-pronounced and satisfying, striking a perfect balance without overwhelming other frequencies. For example, when listening to "Every Breath You Take" by The Police, the bass line is fantastically presented, with each note played by Sting himself coming through clearly and with good rhythm.

The sub-bass isn't overly dominant, which makes it suitable for a big number of genres. It gives just the perfect amount of depth and rumble to tune up the music. However, it should be noticed that the sub-bass is a bit on the slower side, which might not satisfy those who like fast-paced genres like metal. Besides, bass heads will be missing the "big boom" they often seek in sub-bass-heavy tracks.

MID-BASS:

The mid-bass in the TRI I3 MK3 is just fun. There's a decently satisfying thump, and there's an overall good body. The clarity vs. richness balance for this price range is done really well. In "Sweet Child O' Mine" by Guns N' Roses, the mid-bass sounds pristine while allowing all of the details of the music to shine without it sounding too lean or thin.

It also adds warmth and body, giving the instruments and voice a natural feel that is more engaging to listen to. It is also quite well-controlled, not exhibiting evidence of muddiness or bleeding into the midrange- a problem many other earphones have. This punch and impact easily come through in the genres of rock and pop, where rhythm and drive are indispensable.

ARIF8280-Enhanced-NR.jpg

MALE VOCALS:

It has a full-bodied presentation of male vocals, and the touch of brightness adds a bit of clarity. If full-bodied and dynamic voices are your thing, then with these earphones, you are in for a treat: it's going to be rich and engaging without any harshness or shoutiness. The vocals here sound very organic and natural; one can appreciate nuances and emotional shades in the performance of the singer.

For instance, the textured voice of David Coverdale in "Is This Love" by Whitesnake is quite an impressive thing to listen to with it. It captures the depth and warmth in his voice, smoothening it out and making it original. In contrast, the slight sheen on the male vocals creates further detail and presence and therefore an even more engaging performance.

FEMALE VOCALS:

The IEM delivers lush and sparkling female vocals, creating an energetic and engaging listening experience. The slight emphasis on the upper midrange adds a touch of brightness to the vocals, bringing out every nuance and emotion in the singing. This makes listening to female artists quite a pleasure since the subtlety and power in their voices are picked up rather clearly with these earphones.

This earphone does quite a good job in exposing the power and clarity of her voice in "I Need You" by LeAnn Rimes. You can hear the whole range of her vocal performance, from soft emotive tones to high powerful notes. The amount of detail reproduction the IEM accomplishes offers an immersive listen from which full appreciation for artistry and emotion in music is possible. Clarity and details in female vocals come off supported by the general balanced sound signature of the earphones to ensure forward vocals without burying the remaining components of the music.

INSTRUMENT SEPARATION:

The I3 MK3 impresses with its presentation of instrument separation, making it very easy to distinctly hear every instrument within the mix. This sounds particularly very good on difficult and busy tracks like "Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zeppelin. The IEM handles such a complicated arrangement with ease as it makes every single instrument distinctly audible. The warm bass gives it a solid foundation, while the treble is crispy enough that high-frequency information like hi-hats and cymbals become clear and well-defined, giving a sense of depth and space in the music that really enhances the overall listening experience.

In this particular song, the separation between the acoustic guitar, electric guitar, and Robert Plant's vocals is impressive. Each instrument occupies its own space within the soundstage, allowing you to appreciate the individual contributions to the song's rich texture. That this earphone can keep the separation through the dynamics of the song and into the crescendo is a function of the great tuning and driver configuration.

ARIF8282-Enhanced-NR.jpg

TREBLE:

The treble is well-extended with adequate air which shows a good balance between clarity and details in higher frequencies. The high-pitched instruments like hi-hats and cymbals are reproduced with a clear and crisp tone, that gives your listening experience a spicy touch. With the proper sparkle & definition, the treble brings music to life and this hi-res presentation brings more enjoyment.

In "Holy Diver" by DIO, the IEM delivers the treble region with precision. The cymbals and high-pitched guitar riffs sound lively, clear, & bright which brings energy & excitement to the track. But with the tracks carrying plenty of high-frequency presence, this kind of presentation gets shouty at times, perhaps creating fatigue for treble-sensitive listeners.

SOUDSTAGE:

The I3 MK3 offers an impressive soundstage and provides a sense of depth & width that enhances the listening experience. It delivers sound in a way that will make you feel like the music is coming from the space around you, not from inside a little box or a congested place. It creates an awesome engaging listening experience.

While listening to "Take it Back" by Pink Floyd, its soundstage shines with its full potential. The pinpoint position of every instrument is simply fantastic. The soundscape is well-layered and spacious by distinctly placing the guitar riffs, drums, vocals, and other instruments with precision. This sense of depth creates a 3D-like stage around you where all the instruments are well-separated and placed at different distances from you. Along with that, the background effects and instrumental nuances are clearly audible due to their detailed presentation.

CONCLUSION:

First of all, the TRI I3 MK3 is quite a remarkable IEM that delivers a well-balanced and detailed sound signature. There is some emphasis in the upper midrange, giving vocals and instruments some brightness and clarity. Probably one of the most notable features of this earphone is the solid build quality. The shells are made from durable aluminum alloy; which means that they will be able to cope with daily use without neglecting aesthetic style. It also includes a comprehensive set of high-quality accessories.

While the treble tends to be a bit sharp and could be somewhat fatiguing for some listeners, the general sound profile still tends to stay clean, clear, and engaging. This IEM thus proves to be quite a versatile IEM that would drive nearly any genre of music with ease. Be it an audiophile seeking a reliable daily driver or a music enthusiast looking for an upgrade, the TRI I3 MK3 is definitely recommended.

Build and Comfort

The build is made from solid CNC aluminium alloy ear shells, and the anodizing processed by this prevents the IEM from scratches it is a solid build in this price range. Despite of the size of the earpiece , the fit is good to my ears making them comfortable for extended use.

Drivability

I have tried all my DAC/AMP with I3 MK3 indeed it can drive with your phone but it scale well with better sources. I recommend to run this with atleast 250mw of power to wake up the dynamics. DC04 Pro and SK02 is enough to show its true potential.

The TRI I3 MK3 is a balanced tuning to my experience offers a full and well controlled bass response, smooth and velvety mids and natural coherent highs. The way it present the sound it is energetic and vibrant with such grace handling details in the presentation.

Bass

It shows full, punchy and well-controlled yet non intrusive bass. Showcases great attack and speed. The subbass has satisfying rumbles and the low extension on this is great which add enjoyment to the presentation. When I'm listening to some EDM such as Gryffin and Illenium you feel the bass extends what it should be. A great move to TRI for making the dynamic driver handling the bass department.

Mids

The midrange exhibits velvety smoothness presentation thanks to the BA driver handling this frequency. Both male and female produces lush, airy and excellent quality vocals here. The uppermids has great energy and picking up details with ease surprisingly it avoid being shouty even in high volumes. Midrange Intruments presents excellent quality with a touch of naturalness.

Treble

It is smooth, airy and natural this is how I describe this department. The sparkly and airy highs of I3 MK3 allowing the details to show with great precision. It also has good treble extension and energy without a hint of harshness contributes to a long listening sessions. I was impressed when I played my entire music library it is definitely an all-rounder.

Technicalities

The staging of I3 MK3 is wide and spacious with decent height and width keeping the pace in this price range. The imaging and layering is exceptional the coherency of the 3 drivers makes the presentation clear and the placements of the intruments is very noticeable in the mix. The details retrieval of I3 MK3 is very nicely done picking up nuances with superb accuracy.

Conclusion

This TRI I3 MK3 is the new product of TRI offers balance throughout the all 3 frequencies with lively and vibrant dynamics suitable for wide range of genre. It also able to extract details and nuances without being bright. The performance it provide I can admit this is a good set delivering satisfying fun sound signature and engaging presentation.

The use of high-quality materials gives the IEMs a premium feel, making them not only sturdy but also aesthetically pleasing. The connectors are well-made, providing a secure fit with the detachable cable, which minimizes the risk of accidental disconnections. Overall, the build quality of the TRI I3 MK3 reflects the meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail that went into their creation.

ARIF8246-Enhanced-NR.jpg

Fit and Comfort

Comfort is paramount for any IEM, and the TRI I3 MK3 excels in this area. The ergonomic design ensures a snug fit that can be worn for extended listening sessions without causing discomfort. The IEMs come with a variety of ear tips, allowing users to find the perfect fit for their ears. This not only enhances comfort but also improves sound isolation, blocking out external noise and allowing for an immersive listening experience. The lightweight design and secure fit make the TRI I3 MK3 ideal for long-term use, whether you are commuting, working, or relaxing at home.

Sound Impression

The TRI I3 MK3 delivers a neutral-warm sound signature with well-controlled treble and an enjoyable bass response. The unique combination of drivers results in a detailed and balanced sound that is versatile enough to handle a wide range of music genres. The sound is characterized by clean and punchy sub-bass, a rich and textured mid-bass, and warm, natural-sounding instruments. Vocals, both male and female, are rendered with clarity and warmth, while the treble remains smooth and non-fatiguing. The wide sound stage and excellent instrument separation further enhance the listening experience, making the TRI I3 MK3 a standout choice for audiophiles and casual listeners alike.

Sub-Bass

The sub-bass performance of the TRI I3 MK3 is impressive, delivering clean and punchy low-end frequencies. The 10mm beryllium diaphragm dynamic driver ensures that the sub-bass is both powerful and well-defined, providing a satisfying rumble without overwhelming the other frequencies. This makes the sub-bass ideal for genres that rely on strong low-end presence, such as electronic music and hip-hop. The sub-bass adds depth to the music, making the tracks sound fuller and more immersive. Whether you are listening to bass-heavy tracks or more subtle compositions, the TRI I3 MK3 handles the sub-bass with precision and control.

The TRI I3 MK3 boasts impressive sub-bass. It delivers a satisfying rumble with clear detail, making kick drums hit hard and basslines come alive. Tracks like Big Boi, Killer Mike, and Jeezy's "Kill Jill" showcase this perfectly with the punchy opening drops, and Massive Attack and Horace Andy's "Angel" benefits from the IEMs rendering the dual bass pads flawlessly. While the bass might not be thunderous and overpowering, the quality is undeniable. There's plenty of impactful low-end presence to keep bass lovers happy, but it avoids overwhelming the mids and highs, ensuring a clear and balanced soundscape overall.

Mid-Bass

The mid-bass of the TRI I3 MK3 is equally impressive, offering a good amount of punch and detail. Instruments like drums and bass guitars are rendered with clarity and warmth, adding a rich texture to the music. The mid-bass has enough presence to make the music engaging without muddying the overall sound. This balance makes it enjoyable for a variety of musical styles, from rock to classical. The mid-bass is well-integrated with the sub-bass, creating a cohesive and dynamic low-end that enhances the overall listening experience.

Tracks like Rainbow's "Street of Dreams" should benefit from this, with the bassline adding a warm and driving force to the song. Similarly, the iconic bass guitar work in Eagles' "I Can't Tell You Why" should come through with precision and detail. This balance between punch and clarity ensures the mid-bass complements the overall sound without overpowering other instruments.

ARIF8257-Enhanced-NR.jpg

Male Vocals

The TRI I3 MK3 shines when it comes to male vocals. Forget thin or shrill sounds – these IEMs deliver a rich and textured experience. Imagine male voices with a natural warmth, almost a "meaty" quality, that feels full-bodied and engaging. This isn't artificial enhancement; the IEMs simply capture the natural richness of a male vocalist's performance. Take Mark Knopfler's "Our Shangri-La" for example – the IEMs should bring out the depth and character in his voice, making the song even more captivating. Similarly, the emotional nuances in George Michael's "Kissing a Fool" should be delivered with clarity and detail. This combination of warmth and detail ensures you hear every inflection and emotion in the vocals, making them sound incredibly lifelike. If you enjoy vocal-driven genres like jazz, blues, and rock, the TRI I3 MK3 will likely become your go-to IEM, offering an immersive and emotionally resonant listening experience.

Female Vocals

The TRI I3 MK3 treats female vocals with a delightful balance. Imagine smooth, clear vocals with a touch of energy, free from any harshness or sibilance (those annoying ssss and shhhh sounds). This is thanks to the IEMs' ability to render female vocals with both warmth and clarity. They capture the natural beauty of a singer's voice without introducing artificial brightness. Take Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams" for instance Stevie Nicks' vocals should sound smooth and expressive, allowing the emotional core of the song to shine through. Similarly, the powerful vocals of Laura Branigan in "Power of Love" should be delivered with clarity and a touch of energy, keeping the listening experience engaging. This combination of smoothness and energy ensures female vocals retain their dynamic quality, making them both enjoyable and emotionally impactful. Whether you're a pop enthusiast or an opera aficionado, the TRI I3 MK3 promises a satisfying experience for a wide range of vocal music.

ARIF8322-Enhanced-NR.jpg

Treble

The treble performance of the TRI I3 MK3 is well-controlled and tamed. High-frequency sounds, such as cymbals and electric guitars, are smooth and non-fatiguing. The treble is detailed enough to keep the music lively without becoming piercing or shrill. This careful tuning ensures that the treble complements the overall sound signature, adding clarity and airiness without causing listener fatigue. The planar magnetic driver for treble provides a fast and precise response, ensuring that high-frequency details are captured accurately and effortlessly.

Listening to tracks like Gary Moore's "Still Got the Blues" and Martika's "Toy Soldiers" showcases the TRI I3 MK3's treble prowess. The electric guitar solos in "Still Got the Blues" are smooth and richly detailed, while the higher-pitched elements in "Toy Soldiers" are clear and crisp without any harshness. The treble remains detailed enough to maintain musical liveliness, making these IEMs a joy to listen to for extended periods.

Sound Stage

One of the standout features of the TRI I3 MK3 is its sound stage. The IEMs offer an impressively wide sound stage with a decent amount of depth. This spatial quality provides a sense of immersion, making the music sound open and expansive. The wide sound stage allows for better separation of instruments and vocals, enhancing the overall listening experience by creating a more three-dimensional soundscape. Whether you are listening to a live concert recording or a studio album, the TRI I3 MK3 ensures that every element of the music is presented with clarity and precision.

Instrument Separation

Instrument separation is another strong point of the TRI I3 MK3. Each instrument can be distinctly heard within a track, allowing for precise and enjoyable listening. This clarity in separation ensures that even complex musical arrangements sound well-organized and detailed. Whether you are listening to a full orchestra or a small jazz ensemble, the TRI I3 MK3 ensures that every instrument is clearly defined and positioned within the sound stage. This level of detail and separation enhances the overall listening experience, making the TRI I3 MK3 a top choice for discerning listeners.

Listening to tracks like Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" and Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" showcases the IEMs' ability to maintain clarity and separation even in dense arrangements. In "Bohemian Rhapsody," the distinct layering of vocals, piano, and guitar are easily discernible, creating a rich and immersive listening experience. Similarly, in "Stairway to Heaven," the separation of acoustic and electric guitars, drums, and vocals is impeccable, allowing each element to shine without overshadowing the others.

ARIF8230-Enhanced-NR.jpg

Conclusion

The TRI I3 MK3 is a well-rounded IEM that excels in delivering a balanced, warm sound signature. Its build quality, fit, and comfort are commendable, making it suitable for long listening sessions. The design is both functional and attractive, adding to the overall appeal of the IEMs. Sound performance is where the TRI I3 MK3 truly shines, with its punchy sub-bass, detailed mid-bass, textured male vocals, smooth female vocals, controlled treble, wide sound stage, and excellent instrument separation. For audiophiles and casual listeners alike, the TRI I3 MK3 offers a versatile and enjoyable listening experience. Whether you are a fan of bass-heavy genres or prefer vocal-centric music, these IEMs provide a well-balanced sound that is both engaging and satisfying. If you are in the market for a high-quality IEM that delivers on both performance and comfort, the TRI I3 MK3 is definitely worth considering.

I3 MK3 packaging and build.
The packaging is vibrant and adorned with ample information, presenting a significant size difference compared to the original i3's simple black box. Within, one discovers three varieties of tips in multiple sizes to accommodate everyone ideally, included are also a cleaning cloth, a brush tool for cleaning, and a case.
The case is the standard yet high-quality KBear/TRI audio case, which is typically sufficient. However, considering the cable's remarkable thickness and sturdy build, I personally would have preferred a larger one. The I3 MK3 is constructed with high-quality aluminum, offering durability and a sleek design. The new i3 model is significantly more compact than its predecessor, ensuring a perfect fit in one's ears once the appropriate size tips are selected. The included cable is not only well-constructed but also looks fantastic in my opinion.

The equipment utilized for testing the i3 included the TRI TK-2 portable amplifier, The ifi Diablo-2, the Hifiman EF500 Amp/DAC, and various dongles such as the Questyle M15 and ifi GoBar Kensie, among others.

TRI i3 MK3 Sound:
Let's discuss the sound signature. It's worth mentioning that my musical tastes are quite diverse. Although rock, pop, and hip-hop dominate my daily playlist, I also enjoy country, jazz, contemporary, and world music whenever the mood strikes.
I'll begin from the ground up; I'm old school and have been in the game for a long time. I used to be a Stereo-Head, constantly upgrading my speakers and equipment, before diving into motorcycles and other interests. However, music has always been my motivation, sanctuary, and source of relaxation.

BASS:
The i3 MKIII is equipped with a 10mm Beryllium Dynamic Driver dedicated to its lower frequencies. These frequencies are expansive and dynamic, exhibiting superb control and energy. The Sub-Bass, in particular, delivers a commanding thump followed by a satisfying rumble before it fades, while the Mid-Bass boasts impressive speed and attack power.
This offers an enjoyable lower end with precision and quality, not a bass cannon or the typical overly V-shaped sound profile.

MIDRANGE:
The midrange on the i3 is exceptionally rich and smooth, with vocals displaying perfect tone and a natural-sounding timbre. The mids carry a substantial note weight and character, making them highly enjoyable to my ears. The clarity and layering, combined with a strong vocal position and smooth presentation, make the mids nearly perfect for most music genres.

TREBLE:
The MK3's highs are distinctive, featuring a 10mm planar driver dedicated to the treble frequencies—a rarity in hybrid IEMs, despite my experience testing thousands of them. The treble delivers a clean sound with excellent extension and airiness. It possesses a delightful amount of sparkle, and while the details are well-presented, the tuning leans towards a smoother and less sharp quality, resulting in a sound that is both natural and pleasing.

SOUNSTAGE ETC:
The soundstage of the NK3 is expansive and deep, offering substantial height and a broad field that extends slightly behind the ears. It boasts excellent imaging and placement, making it ideal for activities such as gaming and watching movies. In essence, it provides an open soundstage with impressive technicalities and high accuracy.

AFTERTHOUGHTS:
This is one of the best TRIbrids I've experienced this year, and possibly one of the best Hybrids as well. In its price range, I believe many will appreciate this very enjoyable and technically proficient IEM.

Build Quality

The shell is fully made out of metal.
It feels solid and well put together, though when I tap the shell, I can hear some ticking inside the shell.

Also I don’t see any scratches (which indicate the painting is very good) even though my sample was freely shaking around on the shipping because it fell out of its compartment.

As for the cable, it looks and feels premium, it terminates in 4.4mm balanced so you don’t have to buy another cable if your setup is already balanced.

Comfort

Is very good, I can wear the I3 MK3 for long listening sessions with no issues, also the shell size is normal for me despite the fact that the I3 MK3 is using a tribrid configuration.

Sound + Comparison to Moondrop Blessing 3

Tested using FIIO KB3, Stock Eartips, Stock Cable, Music is mostly from Apple Music and Spotify. (J-POP, J-Rock, EDM, Rap, Metal, Jazz)

Tonality in General : Bass Boosted Neutral

My first impression when I tried the TRI I3 MK3 was like, wait why it sounds like my Blessing 3 but better?
It sounds like a much more dynamic yet smooth Blessing 3, so that's why I will do my review + comparison with the Blessing 3.
graph (1).pngcredit to ARN, check their review too !

Bass : the bass is handled by 10mm Beryllium DD, it has a bass boost from sub bass - 150hz.
Bass presentation is very good and satisfying, it has decent punch with very good sub bass rumble and hum.
The bass quantity we can see from the graph is more or less the same with Blessing 3, but the quality is much more superior compared to the Blessing 3 HODDUS (isobaric dual DD) configuration.

The bass of the I3 MK3 is very dynamic and fun to listen to, while the Blessing 3 to my ears doesn't move much air and lacks punch, has less rumble and humming texture and sounds monotone to me.

Midrange : smooth, lush, velvety, those words come to my mind when describing the midrange of TRI I3 MK3.
Compared to the Blessing 3, It sounds just like Blessing 3 with more body to its overall sound, thanks to the high quality SONION BA driver that the I3 MK3 uses.

It has minimum BA timbre, good body, and very good resolving capabilities, punching above its price bracket.
Vocal placement is a bit forward just like Blessing 3, though vocal rendering of the I3 MK3 is much more smoother thanks to less upper midrange tuning.
There is no sibilance nor shout to be found with the I3 MK3.

If I have to give you an analogy between Blessing 3 and I3 MK3, it would be like, the Blessing 3 is a Sennheiser HD600, while the I3 MK3 felt like HD660S2 in terms of vocal presentation.

If you have tried those cans or own both of ‘em you will know what I mean.

Treble : RESOLVING
Thanks to the 10mm planar driver that it uses.
The tuning decision to make the treble quantity slightly below normal IEM combined with the planar type driver is genius IMO.

Planar type drivers usually have that zink and bite to its presentation, so by making the measurable quantity less than normal, it makes the overall presentation feel just right, in fact, it was airy, super extended, smooth, and super resolving at the same time.

I can only sing praises for the TRI I3 MK3 overall tuning. Whoever tuned this IEM, I appreciate your hard work.

Technicality
For its asking price of $200 USD is VERY GOOD

Stage : Large (Very Good)
It feels large and grand, just like an orchestra hall if you can imagine it.
Stage layering is also very good and the shape of the stage is symmetrical both in width and depth.

Imaging : Very Good
It feels holographic, which is mind blowingly good for its asking price.
There are lots of layers to its sounds, you can easily imagine what sound is playing and presented to you.

Separation and Positioning : Very Good
It’s very pinpoint like razor sharp pinpoint, I tested it on Valorant and Music listening, it punches above its class for sure.

Detail Retrieval : Very Good
It's very good for all frequencies, (BASS - MIDRANGE - TREBLE).
Very resolving, like you get even more information compared to the Blessing 3 no joke.

With Blessing 3 you feel there is a haze on the treble but it's kinda bright and forward at the same time, while with I3 MK3 there is this smooth, airy, extended treble with very good resolving capabilities.

Same with the midrange and bass, the I3 MK3 IMO completely blows the Blessing 3 out of this comparison.

Conclusion
20240607_181514.jpg
Do I recommend the TRI I3 MK3?

ABSOLUTELY, this IEM is the easiest recommendation in 2024 for me. In fact, I postponed my review on purpose (I’m sorry KEEPHiFi) just to see if my opinion changes overtime, but NOPE, I’m still liking the TRI I3 MK3 so much that it made my Moondrop Dark Saber and Blessing 3 sits on its case all the time.

Yeah the TRI I3 MK3 is that good.

Thanks for reaching this far.
