Wonderful review !!! Was searching since long time for reviews of this specific combination Topping LA90 + Hifiman Susvara. How is the bass and treble extension of this pairing ? How is PRaT, texture, presence, vividness of Susvara on Topping LA90 ?

@ZzZzZzZ Extensions on both ends are pretty good to me. Very honest and accurate IME. I'm under the impression that LA90 controls Susvara's drivers very tightly. Every note feels responsive and on the spot.

On the other hand, I didn't find this pairing sounded overly vivid or forwarding. Texture is really good because of extremely low noise floor and detail retrievals. No hint of ambiguity or blueness. But it's far from "over-texturing" I could hear from certain pairing.

Bravo for the review! How is the volume range with Susvaras? Is it too limited?

@gonzalo1004es volume would never be an issue with Topping LA90 driving a Susvara!!!

I wasn’t clear enough, I mean if the range of the volume pot is very limited, considering it probably delivers lots of power.

@gonzalo1004es I am a moderate-level (80-85 dbSPL at peak) loudness listener. And for me, most 2ch power amps had too high gain (around 27db for balanced outputs) so that I should apply too much attenuation. That said, LA90's low gain mode (9.5 db) was decently low AND the potentiometer has very linear gradation of attenuation for the first half rotation (up to 12pm). My most listening is done with 11am or so. For very high crest-factor tracks, I sometimes crank up around 1pm. Those favoring louder volumes might also benefit from high gain mode (19.5 db).

To add, I've never cranked up beyond 1pm because I'm worried that it might damage either my ears or headphones.

@Takarajima Thank you very much! That’s great news, my experience with speaker amps and Susvara has been the same: too powerful and very limited volume range, so it is great to hear that!

@Takarajima One last question:): Is there any audible noise with the Susvaras coming from the LA90?
