Superlux HD562 review

Superlux is fairly known on head fi as some of the best price to performance headphone manufacturer and the hd562 is not an exception in the on ear category

Personal Description

I'm a 20 years old college student who always love music,I wouldn't call myself and audiophile but just an average music lover, however due to the expensive exchange rate in my country, headphones are really expensive and only available to the people wiling to spend upward of 100 on a pair of headphones. When superlux headphones are introduced in my country, it gives the chance to more budget conscious consumer and audiophiles alike to enjoy headphones without spending too much. Now lets talk about the superlux headphones.

Design

The HD562 is fairly similar looking to its inspiration, the hd25,some would call it retro looking and ugly while I love the design of this headphones, its fairly cool looking and robust, something that you would expected to be use by the military or videographer alike. Personally I hate the wing system employed by superlux, and the hd562 is a much better fit compared to my friends hd661. Overall not too much to complain about the headphones in term of design.

Build Quality

Build quality is solid for the price, the headband feel rugged and solid, the slider mechanism does feel a bit loose but we'll see if it stand the test of time and the fact that it use similar part to the hd25 means it easily replacable

Accessories

Come with a carrying pouch,a set of velour earpads, foam insert and 1/4 adapter.I'm quite impressed with superlux as the still included some accessories with the headphones, most budget offering simply skips on accessories and come barebones.

Comfort

Comfort may vary from person to person as I found these to be quite uncomfortable. The included velour earpad does provide some comfort while altering the sound(more on to that later). After an overnight of stretching the comfort does improved but the clamping force is still there. These are not the headphone you can simply forget you wearing them, they are lightweight and don't put too much pressure on top of your head though.

Sound Quality

Most of my listening test include source from 320kbps mp3 and genre including dubstep, electronic music and jpop.Velour pad are used in listening session.

Songs used:
LiSA - Raally Go Round(320 kbps)
GTA  Wax Motif - Get It All (Getter  Ray Volpe Remix)(320 kbps)
Noisia - Mantra(320 kbps)
Duskus - Wundatrip(320 kbps)
San Holo - Can't Forget You(320 kbps)

Bass- Bass are fast and punchy without being bloated or muddy, incredibly fast with good decays that can keep up with fast dubstep and drum and bass.To my ears they are a bit more quantity compared to midrange and treble giving them a slightly darker sound signature
Mids- Mids and vocal are forward giving a nice balance to the dark sound signature.I found them to be great with vocal oriented music like pop and rock.A slightly more forward vocal would compliment my taste, but it is good enough in my opinion.
Treble- Can't comment too much on treble but in my opinion its not bright and does have any sibilance.LiSA Rally Go Round tend to be quite sibilance on headphones or iem that have uncontrolled highs and thankfully its not the case here.

Comparison with pleather and velour pad- Pleather pad give a more bassy sound and lose a bit of clarity, however gain a lot more isolation. These are a lot darker compare to velour pad without losing too much midrange and treble

Conclusion

For the price I paid, which is under $40, in my opinion this is the best on ear headphones under $50,great for any kind of genre and the bass are bit pronounced but not to much to be too genre specific. If you can stand the clamping force, this are a great headphones with solid build quality and good sound quality.
