Confused about this piece of info "Chord Mojo can hold its own against any 'traditional' delta sigma DAC that uses common DAC chips and no FPGA correction" What exactly is the FPGA correcting?

Timing errors, filtering and noise shaping. It is their own design but I can't argue with the results.

Nice hype, but I still did not hear the word correct or correcting as it relates to the fpga. The FPGA does not correct anything. It is simply just another way to do the d to a conversion.

The increased tap length on Chord DACs is to reduce timing errors. I can see you are just out to get me, suit yourself as it changes absolutely nothing.

Certainly not out to get anyone, just looking for clarity in your original statement.

It was indeed misleading, I have since changed the statement. Thanks for pointing it out.

1.) The Mojo suffers from EMI issues 2.) If you use it as a standalone DAC you cannot really bypass the primary amp stage. The volume controls affect the output even in dedicated DAC mode.

Never detected any EMI issues with mine, when using it I had no noise floor. The volume controls indeed adjust every output, although there is a fixed line level mode (which seems to just be equivalent to fixed at max volume).

The one had picked up interference from my phone nearby. The line level output is fixed volume, but it clipped the input on the bottlehead I had at the time. I had to turn the volume down on the Mojo.

Interesting, I will be building a Bottlehead Crack. Curious to see if I will encounter the same issue. The only amps I have used the Mojo with so far are the G1217 Project Ember II, Schiit Lyr 2, and Schiit Lyr 3. I will be comparing it to the Hugo 2 as dedicated DACs with my Mjolnir Audio Pure BiPolar.

@NA Blur , you need attenuators like these: http://www.russandrews.com/inline-wbt0110-attenuators-48009990000/

Is this still the best portable or should I consider something else?

The Chord Hugo 2 is the best portable but that's a totally different price range. For the price I think Mojo is king, sounds much better than any FiiO device I have used (have not tested newer iFi stuff however but I'd bet on the Mojo).
