Parrot Zik 2.0

New Head-Fier
Pros: Noise cancelling pretty good, touch sensor on right cup, auto stop music on removal of headphones, pretty good sound and good bass
Cons: Battery life only 6hrs had to buy second battery (hard to find), headband could be a tad bigger, noise cancelling could be better
I bought the Parrot Zik 2.0 on Nov 15, 2014 at the Apple store and even they were not on the shelves yet!

Quite enjoyed them, but the headband could definitely be a tad bigger, its a little tight on my average sized head.

Sound is pretty good - not breathtaking, better than my Bose QC2. Much better bass too. Good all round sound I say.

Battery life is atrocious, only 6 hours?? I use this headphone at least 6hrs each day at work - it is quite noisy in an open plan office. I had to buy a second battery and even that is hard to find.

Connection with the bluetooth is great.

The sensor touch control for the volume is pretty good, but for skipping tracks, there is a lot of times if you don't do it properly it will pause the track instead of skipping it. Quite annoying.

Noise cancelling could be a bit better to cancel out more people talking. Quite good on the plane though.

About 6 months in, what I didn't like was the build of the headphone cups, there is a seam that opened up by itself - it seems the glue is not very good. 4 months in with my replacement pair and the same thing is starting to occur again at the same place and for some reason, it seems to be the left ear cup again.

Another annoying thing is if you don't adjust the sound profile on the app and add some bass, it sounds quite crap and flat.

Another really annoying thing is the power button location, the way the headphone fits in the suede-like fabric case is when you need to take it out or put it back  - side by side orientation - the opening of the case is a bit tight and the power button gets pressed a lot of the time. So there have been numerous occasions I have put away the headphones in the case but later realised it turned on the headphone by itself and when I come to use it, the battery was very low.

Overall I thought it was rather overpriced but there were very few bluetooth headphones with good noise cancelling out there and I need to have a wireless, noise cancelling headphone. The design - especially - the power button location - was definitely silly. It could do with better engineering testing prior to release.

Confort - need to be MUCH better, not to the most comfortable being too stiff with the foam - the Gold benchmars is still Bose QC series.

Lastly, not EVEN 1 year out, the Parrot Zik 3.0 comes out - what a way to piss off a loyal customer!!

At least the Parrot Zik 3.0 is claimed to improve the battery life by 3x and has other modes for different settings.

Just sell your Zik 2.0 on eBay and note everything you just said. You were very descriptive, so the bidder will be fine with bidding on them.

New Head-Fier
Pros: Seemingly impressive deep bass and concert like
Cons: Wireless not stable if moving too much
I had the opportunity to listen to this at length against some other similar priced gears.

After pairing my device, it magically struck me WOW!

As I tried a number of music tracks , it became apparent the deep bass was almost one note and somewhat disjointed with the upper registers. Maybe this was part of the concert effect?   So I tried it again with another device I had but it had the same effect.  Mind you, I was rather impressed with its smoothness and lack of harshness with clean recorded material even at loud levels.

But the one note deep bass and high frequencies were a bit too much at the end.

Perhaps the HP beats laptop and Dell XPS we tested with were not compatible for this beautiful headset???

New Head-Fier
Pros: A great upgraded design from the original, the faux-leather makes it more quality looking, amazing noise cancelling, decent battery life
Cons: Rare audio hiccup, small headband, terrible sound without noise-cancelling on
This is a great headphone if you can justify the price. I have used this headphone as a daily driver and noise-cancelling works great in city transit. This headphone can be paired with an android app or iOS app, which allows you to set effect, level of noise-cancelling, set a timer, and download artist preset for effect. The noise-cancelling offers 5 level including off and a feature similar to Sennheiser TalkThrough, where the microphone will capture the audio around you and play them through the speaker. This headphone supports HD voice call, but my cellular doesn't support my phone. I use this headphone around 1.5 hours each day and by the end, I still have around 80% battery left.

The cons on the other hand are a deal breaker for some people. Even though I have an average head, I have to adjusted the headphone to the maximum setting in order to wear it comfortably. This headphone would be impossible to wear for people with larger head. Also, without the noise-cancelling on, it sounds like you are in a wind tunnel. Every week or so, I have experience a few audio hiccup and removing my headphone will not pause the audio.

Overall, I love this headphone and most importantly, I didn't feel I have wasted my money. If you are to purchase it with a case, the original Zik hardcase works well with this headphone.

Parrot Zik 2.0 without any doubt is one the best looking headphone with great sound to go with it thanks to their software. But I must say it's in their hardware quality that is questionable. I have this headphone for 6 months now. The first 4 months were enjoyable until one day, to my horror i discovered a slight tear on the left ear cup leather which exposing the white foam. On a closer look I noticed that the leather is not stitched to that thin linen surrounding the inner ear cup and it just sticked together with glue or something. To me this is totally unacceptable because overtime due to constant contact with our ears it will bound to tear unfortunately for me, it happened so soon. Althought I managed to get it replaced because it is still under the warranty period but to my disappointment, after another 2 months later (just a couple of days ago) the same thing happened again. There is definitely a flaw on the ear cup form design and manufacturing. I sharing my experience with anyone who wishes to get this headphone to be aware of this problem.

Managed to get the Retailer to replace the ear pad F.O.C. for the second time in 6 months. The new pad looks exactly similar to those previous ones and I suspect it won't last me very long again.  Hopefully if it would to happen for the third time, it better be before the expiry of the warranty period after which I think I will have to pay for it!!
