@Beagle, The NVX XPT100 has actually been out a while, at least 3 years, but I am not sure the exact date.
The newest clone that I can figure is actually the STUDIOSPARES M1000, but I could be wrong.
The thing about all the clones is that each one brings something a little different. The XPT100 having Two Cables, a set of Angled Pads and the Flexible headband.
HM5 has always had the 2 cables and headband has always been pretty flexible. Angled pads is new though. Would be nice if you could compare anything your reviewing (in future reviews) to other stuff you have - so that we could get an idea of what they sound like compared to others. I guess if they're the same as the HM5, my take on them would be a little different - as I find the HM5 neutral - but slightly on the bright/thin side (rather than warm).
@Brooko, Unfortunately I gave away my Digitech (Jaycar) Pro Monitors to my ex girlfriend a while back, really regret that one. It would have been great to compare the two. I've also never tried the HM5 so I was not sure of the sound or headband flexibility.
I'll try and do more comparisons in future reviews, I think that is a great idea. It will help give members a better idea of what the sound is like if I can relate it to something they might already have.
Sound is exactly how I would describe my Digitechs. Detailed, clear with some warmth. Supposedly new hm5's sound different being more bright. I guess nvx is using the old yoga parts making these sound like a closed sennheiser hd600.
@Brooko I've had both the HM5 and the NVX's. The headband on the NVX is more flexible and less rigid than the HM5's. Sonically they sound the same. Any sonic differences between the two would really come down to pads and clamping force. Note I had the older HM5's, I think the new ones have different pads and may be built differently.
