Planar Drivers: Not your typical headphone driver! A planar magnetic driver is a flat membrane that is surrounded by magnets. Once current is delivered, the membrane produces sound that has lower distortion, better bass, and pinpoint imaging that is usually not found in your typical headphone driver. The size of the driver in the Monolith M1060C is 106mm.

Closed Back Design: Outside noise stays out and only the music stays in! The 1060C delivers excellent audio isolation, allowing the sonic landscape to not be disturbed by the outside world, and the outside to not be disturbed by your music. This makes the M1060C the perfect audiophile choice for those that may need to listen in less than silent environments.

Comfort: The Monolith M1060C has been engineered to be comfortable for extended listening sessions. Large, comfy earpads made of faux leather and a padded headband are designed to keep you comfortable as you listen.

I'd love to see reviews that put this HP up against the open-backed 1060. I will probably get one or the other. I'm new to the headphone scene, so I don't know which I'd prefer; open or closed back. I love the sound of my HD6XX cans, but I'd like more bass. I wonder if that would occur with a closed-back version?

These may not release until spring. I’m not believing the 2/15/18 availability date. I’m not sold on planar yet. I had the Monolith M560. Those cans didn’t have the full sound I’m accustomed to.

I would guess that more bass would occur with the M1060C, or the closed back version, because they seal you off and produce tight bass.

I just received my headset, and guess what! Only the right side works!. Will have to return it.
A few things about the headset, it does not isolate sound, it is similar to the fostex x00 where it is semi open. It leaks a lot of sound. It appears to have some dampening material in the cups, and a fazor array. The pads are still glued. The housing is metal making these super heavy. Pretty mad it doesn't work, and that it doesn't isolate. Was really looking forward to having it for portable use. It sounds great though, but hard to judge with only one side working.
