MEElectronics SX-31- BK

Don't let the price fool you.

Wow, these came out in 2010, you can buy them now for $4.99 and they sound amazing. They have been discontinued so if you have a remote curiosity get a pair. These are complete bass head IEMs, in fact I don't think I have ever heard a pair that makes more bass. Just a great IEM which surprisingly has not much interest on Head-Fi. I was at my IEM shop trying different IEMs and went through 25 different IEMs, saw the MEE label and they let me try them. I was suprised when I heard them and even more surprised after burn-in. A blast!

Ergonomics are great, they sound better with after market tips but surprisingly come with 3 sets. Build is 100% plastic but that keeps them light weight and easy to fit. They stay in place and feel perfect. If more IEMs could only fit like these. They have bendable strain relief at the drivers and non-microphonic cables. I don't know how long they will last but they have to be the surprise purchase of the year for me.

They are not the last word in detail but have a smooth warm bass reponse with a big soundstage. They are amazingly fun to listen to and are super easy to drive. A joy!

500+ Head-Fier
Pros: Cheap, passable sound
Cons: Bit bulky

Packaging – Interesting plastic tube packaging with the standard silicone SML tips.
Build - Plastic. Despite certainty looking its price range, it looks like it could last. Cable is short but not terribly noisy. Handset control works.
Comfort - Very light and comfortable. A bit big because of the long stems.
Soundstage - Does not stand out. The soundstage is from your left ear to your right ear.
Lows – At the price range, it comes as no surprise they are very bass heavy. I found the lows excessive given that the other ranges are lacking.
Mids - Recessed and unfortunately covered by the booming bass. Don't expect the vocals to come through on low heavy tracks.
Highs - Neither here nor there. It has a neutral mount of treble and is not harsh. In no way is it detailed though.

I have no complaints considering they can be found for $5. At that price it's disposable and also serves as a great replacement for stock buds.
