When it comes to mid, do you think the tri i3 is vastly superior to the LZ A7, or just a 10~20% improvement?
I'm quite curious bout the "thicker" sound of the tri i3. I love the thicker mids of the Starfields, but I just think it lacks resolution, which is quite a shame!
Hi, thank you for the review. How many times better do you think the LZ A7 is compare to the Tri i3 then? I have been spending too much lately already but can't resist the current discount lol...
@saldsald It is difficult to quantify a number of how many times A7 is better than TRI I3 as they are using different tech and are at different brackets. But I would say diminishing returns exist in this hobby and while both are good, the A7 is for sure in another league in terms of technical performance and refinement and you have to consider it can potentially have 10 different sound signatures, so that in itself is like getting more than 1 IEM with a purchase. TRI I3 is still one of my favourite IEMs at the sub $150 region, but it needs amping to scale better whereas A7 is quite easy to drive.
Thank you for the quick answer. So what about in the price bracket of the A7, is this your favorite? TBH, I bought the i3 at a rather cheap price and have never bought anything in the range of the A7.
@saldsald I would say the LZ A7 gets my vote for best midfi CHIFI. The 10 tuning configs already gives it a leg up over the competition. Having said that, there's gonna be big diminishing returns the higher you go up. So you will probably be getting marginal returns upgrading up the ladder all the way to TOTL stuff. Some folks are happy to get 80% sound for 10 - 20% of the price, some wanna chase the last 10% sound but pay 10 times more, so different strokes for different folks as they say.
