P6 Pro 10th Anniversary Edition Black & Gold Edition (Classical Sound Profile)
Pros: Natural, Analog Sound: The Black & Gold Edition is designed with a classical sound profile, which may offer a natural and analog-like presentation, aligning with your appreciation for a balanced and natural sound.

Tonal Richness: This edition emphasizes tonal richness, which could enhance your listening experience, especially with genres like classical, jazz, and acoustic music.

Dynamic Range: With a dynamic range greater than 123dB, it provides strong micro-contrast, allowing for refined instrument separation and detail retrieval.

Good lineout with Extra Amp, one of the best line-out on the market if you are looking for dark background with amazing depth for the soundstage
Cons: Limited Availability: With only 49 units worldwide, acquiring this edition may be challenging.

Price Point: High-end features and exclusivity come at a premium price, but it is considered fair (as its an LP Product, compared to Ti99 it is a good pick up)

Sound Profile: The classical tuning may not be as versatile across all music genres, potentially limiting its appeal if your listening preferences are diverse, the female vocal on the Black gold is amazingly done but when it comes to male vocal it doesn't have enough thickness to the performance's sound.

Comparing the SP3K 3000 Gold and the LP6 Ti 7AE with the P6 Pro 10AE Gold

I did a quite A/B test for 3k 7ae and the new 10ae gold, and now I can fully understand why the P6 Pro 10AE Gold is specifically said to be tuned for classical music. Although I find it sounds great with other genres like pop and vocals, it truly excels at capturing the texture of classical instruments, the weight of each note, and the refinement of certain instruments—especially the piano. Its presentation is more delicate and refined, and it indeed has a unique character.

If you do a careful A/B comparison, you’ll notice that the SP3K 3000 Gold offers a more balanced overall performance. Its soundstage is larger, and it reveals more details. However, its sound is less embellished; it simply delivers the music as it is. In contrast, the P6 Pro 10AE Gold seems intentionally fine-tuned for a more impressive first impression. It provides a “wow” effect by refining the texture of the main instrument’s sound. For example, when listening to a piano or violin concerto, the main instrument has extra note weight and a more exciting tone on the P6 Pro 10AE Gold, while the background instruments are slightly lowered. This tuning can be beneficial for many classical tracks by highlighting the main melody. However, some classical listeners might find this approach unbalanced because it strays from the original recording and sometimes loses a bit of the “live” feel.

That said, it also depends on your preferred “listening position.” The SP3K Gold and 7AE might be more traditional—like sitting in a concert hall viewing the orchestra from a distance—whereas the P6 Pro 10AE Gold feels more like standing right by the stage. Even though the P6 Pro 10AE Gold’s imaging is extremely clear, its soundstage sometimes feels less natural. Still, I might be nitpicking, given that I’m comparing some of the best DAPs in the world side by side.

For those with extensive experience in classical music, the SP3K 3000 Gold (and even the 7AE, which is warmer than the SP3K but still more neutral compared to the 10AE) might sound more realistic yet less thrilling overall, simply because they’re so balanced and natural. Regarding soundstage, the 10AE’s smaller scale can feel well-suited to small ensembles. However, for large orchestral pieces, its heavy embellishments can occasionally make the soundstage feel overly confined—almost like the music is in a small, boxed space.

I’ll probably keep all three devices because each provides a completely different experience, and they complement each other. The 10th Anniversary Gold edition is perfect for those times when I really want to indulge—it’s incredibly satisfying. Its prominent main melody presence also benefits pop music and female vocals. What surprised me most is how great it sounds with female vocals—it’s truly delightful to listen to.

Line-out with Tsuranagi silver-concept
The P6 Pro 10th Anniversary Edition paired with the Tsuranagi Silver-Concept creates an exceptional synergy, delivering an ultra-clean sound with one of the darkest backgrounds ever heard. This pairing enhances note weight, making instruments and vocals feel more full-bodied and engaging while maintaining a precise, controlled presentation. The bass impact is particularly impressive—tight, textured, and dynamic without overpowering the mix. While the soundstage isn’t as expansive as when pairing the Tsuranagi SC with the SP3000 Gold, the clean imaging and spatial precision more than make up for it, offering a holographic yet controlled listening experience.

This combination is a perfect fit for the Viking Damascus IEMs, which already excel in clarity, spatial depth, and bass extension. Together, they create a dynamic and immersive sound, enhancing the Viking Damascus’s natural strengths without overshadowing its balanced presentation. The result is an engaging, refined, and emotionally rich audio experience, making this pairing a strong contender for an endgame setup.

First Impressions: P6 Pro 10th Anniversary Edition (Black Gold vs. Silver)

Both P6 Pro 10th Anniversary Edition versions are exceptionally solid DAPs, likely among the best portable DAPs with this ultimate compact form factor. After an A/B comparison for half an hour, I found noticeable differences between the two versions.

  • Black & Gold Edition: Features a very wide soundstage with more prominent echoes and air, making it spacious and immersive.
  • Silver & Gray Edition: Delivers more powerful bass, denser mids, and a more compacted soundstage, resulting in a weightier, more impactful presentation.
  • Both versions are on the same tier, but choosing between them depends on personal preference—whether you prioritize spatial openness or midrange density and bass impact.
Interestingly, I don't find the P6 Pro 10th Anniversary Editions inferior to the LP6 series. In fact, they are very competitive against the LP6 Ti 7th Anniversary Edition (7AE). While the 7AE still has a lusher vocal presentation, I think the Gold P6P wins in resolution, making details stand out more precisely.

Great review. I also had the opportunity to hear both the silver and gold, and I agree with Ray's comments. I personally prefer the silver's tuning, due to the bass and mids. But the soundstage of the gold is very impressive. I'm not entirely sure which one I would pick; the soundstage advantage of the gold might be sufficient to make up for my tuning preference for the silver.
