Thaks for this review of the iSilencer+. I was recommended the iDefender3.0 for my mac due to grounding issues. I believe there is now an updated model of this too - iDefender+. I will be giving this a whirl.

Great review and I saw your posts in the thread. Thanks. Good to see someone looking at these gadgets objectively and nor just dismiss them as 'snake oil'. Nice work sir!

Very good approach .
I had a ground loop issue on my computer with RME ADI 2Dac Fs The iDefender + solved the problem.

So I ordered also the iSilencer + to give it a try. I think the effect is subtle but i clearly hear a difference when i use it in the computer usb port used for the Dac. The change is positive to me so i keep it.

Just going back to my earlier comment above, iDefender+ did the job. Seems the iSilencer+ and iDefender+ are both winners.

Thanks for the review! I would just like to add my experience. I also have been very bored lately and seeing as I use a laptop with Audirvana 100% of the time, I wanted to see if this gadget would improve on what I currently have. My setup: Samsung Flash Notebook > iSilencer+ > Audioquest Forest usb cable to Pre Box S2 Digital DAC (powered by a Topping P50 LPS) I am noticing quite a bit of difference when a/b ing with and without the iSilencer+. That said, I'm not sure if it's something I like or not yet as I've only had this for about 2 days so far. So, in my case, I'm noticing a 'darker' background while listening but also experiencing a slight roll-off of the treble for some reason. Maybe a side-effect of the process of cutting out the noise in the signal? I'm not sure. I'm still testing but, it does seem to do what it is intended to do. =)

I'm kind of wondering what would make a better improvement: The iSilencer+ or an Audioquest Jitterbug. I have an old DAC with an adaptive USB to spdif chip.(Burr-Brown PCM2902) Won't do anything above 16/48. A new DAC is on the horizon. Until then I want to make an improvement on my current unit.(Headroom Micro DAC I bought in 2007.) USB noise is a major issue, so I'm leaning towards this unit as a new asynchronous USB would less sensitive towards packet errors and the jitter and PC's are horrible sources of RF. Anyone have any feedback?

Got one today and if you're looking for a jaw-dropping improvement, you will be disappointed. That being said, the quieter passages are quieter and it does what it's supposed to do. On the beginning of Dark Side of the Moon I noticed I could hear the beginning of the track earlier than ever before and this is a record I've heard thousands of times. I'm going to keep it and that speaks volumes. If your DAC is powered by USB, aka Dragonfly, give it a try. You can always return it... Keep in mind it's only $50. The main caveat is it's large and won't fit side by side. I've never auditioned a Jitterbug so I can't say which has a better overall audible improvement. Keep in mind the main function of this product is noise reduction and the Jitterbug is to correct packet errors.

Wanted to give an update of sorts as I've had some serious time with this by now. I've since moved on to a Schiit Modius DAC from the previous Pre Box S2 (firmware issues suck!) As you may or may not be aware, the Modius can be powered via USB only when using USB as an input. It is not necessary to use an external power supply unless you are using any of the other three outputs. That said, I've been doing loads of testing with my LPS and have found that the iSilencer+ really makes a difference in my current chain. My current set up: Samsung Flash Notebook > iSilencer+ > Wireworld Ultraviolet 8 cable (power is separated from data lines in this particular cable) > Schiit Modius. I have been using my LPS to power the Modius so that the USB connection would not draw power from my laptop. (dirty, noisy power I've since learned)

Broken up due to 1000 characters or more. Continued below:

This way, the data stream is cleaned up without any power to worry about and then runs straight through the iSilencer to my DAC. It makes a world of difference and I highly recommend this if there are any Modius users out there looking to clean up things as much as possible. Linear power supplies do work, and the iSilencer+ ends up being very synergistic in this situation.
