L+ on 4.4 goes to L+ on the 2 pin
L- on 4.4 goes to BOTH 2-pins on the ground pin
R+ on 4:4 goes to R+ on the 2-pin
R- on 4.4 goes to BOTH 2-pins on the ground pin
Ground on the 4.4 goes to nothing.
Oh... That's BAD.
It's a bummer because is a limited product with a pretty hefty price.
It's not like we had high expectation, but we expect to not broke our hardware.
Thanks for reporting it
but as a customer I can say that it would burn me and it kind of makes me sad they didn’t went straight to 4.4mm + adapter or a real high-quality design for this adapter…
Personally I would have preferred the exact same
IMO even no adapter would have been better than the current adapter

HiSenior has issued a statement.

In 4 parts:

I recommend you either throw away the adapter and just use it with the 3.5mm cable

Or you can email them and arrange a return and replace with a 4.4mm Manta Cable and a proper adapter.
So...I bought them from HifiGo...and my impression was that for this release the other Manta cable would've been a later add-on not a ready to order alternate version...considering the "quality" on the translation on the statement, it is my impression that the suggest to send to them the entire headphone package to change version?

What if instead I'd like to buy separately a 4.4 cable?

Yeah, it reads really poorly, if they want me to send the whole set back, then forget it. I have a review to do. But from my conversations with the rep on twitter, it seems like the 4.4mm version of the Manta cable is coming soon to the store. Might want to shoot them an email and see if they can get you one sooner rather than later.

I will do. Honestly I think this set likes power...and even my Hiby R4 on SE is not able to provide the power they need at low volume levels! :O
I also like using balanced connections whenever I can :D

Out of curiosity, which eartips are you liking so far? The included ones are good but not very comfortable, TRI Clarion are a no go with my ears (apparently) and Spinfit W1 and CP145 seem to damage the low end with my head. Surprisingly the Final Audio Type E are working very well (so far)!

I’ve tried Spinfit CP145, Penon Liqueur Orange, Divinus Velvet Standard, and Dunu S&S.

So far I’m liking the Divinus the best, followed by the CP145.

I ordered mine on the day it became available (11/11) - I'm really enjoying the IEM but after much comiserating, I shelved the provided cable and opted for a native NiceHCK 4.4mm cable, it's worked out well. The Manta cable is very nice, but I didn't feel comfortable using the adapter. At this price point, I don't see why it didn't come with a native 4.4mm cable. I did email Hisenior support today for a replacement cable. I'll update this post once I receive an answer from Hisenior.

I contacted HiFiGo, I hope to get my upgrade cable soon! :D

Edit: HiFiGo shipped my Manta 4.4mm cable this morning! So the waiting begins! 🙌 I will post my review after collecting some thoughts A/Bing the balanced/unbalanced experience.
They haven’t sent it to me yet but same... When I get my hands on the new Manta 4.4mm cable and adapter, I’ll be doing a full review. For now, I can only say that I prefer the 3.5mm when paired with the Kbear 07/Fiio HS18 eartips. Surprisingly, the slight changes in sound signature with 4.4mm aren’t entirely convincing to me and the technical performance with 4.4mm doesn’t improve significantly like it does with other models. I actually prefer the technicalities on 3.5mm over 4.4mm with this Mega5EST Bass+, this is the first time that happened to me, to be honest. My favorite eartips with balanced cable are the Spinfit CP100 tho. The CP145 are on the way! Spinfit W1 was a complete no in both (3.5mm and 4.4mm).

What balanced cable have you used with them? I personally prefer to use the provided one just to try to get the experience as is first, so I haven't done any cable swap yet and the adapter is useless, since the connection would be unbalanced on a balanced termination which ruins sound IMHO.

Currently my favourite tips are the narrow bore provided by Hisenior in S size and the Type E in SM size...but I find that the shape of the ones provided by Hisenior tuck in better in my ears. TRI Clarion, Spinfit CP145 and W1 are all a no-go for me after thorough testing. Unfortunately the Divinus Velvet are good but too big and I get earache...I might try them again in the smallest size but I fear I won't get a good seal while the Fiio HS19 (all types) and the Sancai destroy the dynamics of this IEM for me.

I can't wait to try them with a balanced cable on the H400. I think that might be my preferred combo...they are lovely with the DiscDream Ultra 2, even though I prefer to listen to CDs with single DDs (like the Meze Alba), and they sound great with my HiBy R4, I just need to crank the volume up a little bit because these babies really like power!

I ordered it with the WhiteWhale 4.4mm cable, but I’m pretty sure there’s a polarity or phase issue with it. I ended up swapping it out and tested it with three other balanced cables. Eventually, I switched to a modular cable so I could easily go back and forth between 4.4mm and 3.5mm while testing and tip-rolling. All the 4.4mm cables I tried sounded the same, except for the WhiteWhale. To make it sound like the others, I had to rotate both pins 180°. That’s why I’m excited for the new Manta 4.4mm cable and its adapter—it’ll let me stick with the original accessories. I’m not really a fan of trying out random cables that aren’t included with the product. Plus, the adapter is proving to be pretty useful now.

I didn’t like the Divinus Velvet very much. It definitely makes the sound more technical and wide, but the issue for me is that they positioned female vocals and the treble in a way I didn’t like, but male vocals sounded really good. The Tri Clarions, on the other hand, felt a little incoherent—the vocals lose dynamism. I did try them with memory foam tips, they don’t sound bad, worth it to try IMO.
