That’s awesome news! I will post my impressions ASAP. It should fly out of China tomorrow, if everything goes well I’ll have a busy weekend 🥰
Gizaudio already published his review and my first impression is that I don't think personally suits the genre of music I usually listen to.

Also I'm not convinced in the 3.5 cable with the 4.4 dummy adapter

Looking forward for your review :)

What genre of music do you usually listen to? I might give it a go and share some impressions if it’s not already in my list 😃

Uhh thanks a lot, I usually listen to alternative/metal but I space out from JPOP, orchestral etc
And I feel the mid-bass would be too invasive for my taste

I literally just bought the OG from the listings here lmao

I just saw GIzAudio review and feels off...his comments about technical details are not aligned with the reviews of the original Mega5EST, and if it's is true that this version has the same technicalities as the original then it feels nearly impossible to me that the Pilgrim is more resolving...

Curious to hear for myself and to do tip rolling (Divinus Velvet, TRI Clarion, Dunu S&S, Tangzu Sancai, Spinfit W1)...

I would be my first time doing tip rolling with the OG, which one would you recommend?
I've seen the divinus velvet, dunu s&s and the spinfit mentioned pretty often. I'm using comply tips on my Kato rn

- Divinus Velvet are great for comfort, but I am finding the balanced type to alter the sound too much in-fact I am thinking about ordering the wide bore variant which are renown for maintaning the IEM timbre while opening the sound.
- Dunu S&S are weird because they have straight walls. There are some IEMs where I can't use them because the tip becomes too thick and they keep being pushed out of my ear...but when they work they really create a perfect seal and everything in the experienced is enhanched.
- Spinfit are a safe bet, if you find comfortable clear silicon tips these are amongst the most comfortable and relatively cheap.

I will personally try the Divinus Wide Bore and the TRI Clarion for starters...the sound signature touted in reviews seems to be one that plays very well with wide bore tips. The Sancai wide bore variant are also a safe bet, I think.

My core playlist this year has been composed of classic rock, thrash metal, nu metal, prog, commercial, jazz and some pop tunes that I've known my entire life.

This August I gave it a twist chosing some records instead of single songs and I run my favourite IEMs through:
- Eminem - Curtain Call
- Eminem - The Death of Slim Shady
- Dream Theater - Metropolis Part 2
- Steven Wilson - The Harmony Codex
- Slipknot - IOWA
- Slipknot - Slipknot
- SUM41 - Heaven x Hell
- Linkin Park - Papercuts
- Children of Bodom - Are You Dead Yet?
- Nightwish - Once
- Michael Jackson - Thriller
- Pat Metheny - Moondial
- Mastodon - Leviathan
- Mastodon - Crack The Skye
- Slash - Orgy of The Damned
- Pantera - Vulgar Display of Power
- Arch Enemy - Doomsday Machine
- Arch Enemy - Will To Power
- Opeth - Heritage
- Opeth - Ghost Reveries
- Opeth Watershed

I pretty much listened to each of these albums with my fav IEMs and compared new purchases to them. Quite a lot of listening, even while working :D

Last week the new Linkin Park record was out so I spent last week comparing Moondrop Variations, FatFreq Deuce, Meze Alba, Dunu DaVinci and Tangzu Yu Xuan Ji on this record. I used mainly the CD as source and I played through the Moondrop Disc Dream 2 Ultra.

Because my ears are quite acquainted to a certain colume level through this unit I will probably listen to this record using the same setup I've used over the last 10 days and then make a playlist with my favourite songs from these albums I listed above plus some good house music like old hits of Kraftwerk and Daft Punk.
I will mainly play CD and Bluray rips from the albums I own to ensure the best quality, and I will play both from my Hiby R4 and my desktop stack composed of the SMSL D400 Pro and SMSL H400.

Fun fact, Opeth's new album is out this Friday...so I might blast that one for at least twice a day for a few days and add it to my list. :p

Just checked with Hisenior customer service. The adapter was designed in the way that it won't short the two cold end of a balanced amp.

I still opted for the older White Whale cable. Not so into adding more single-ended cables to my collection.

I was thinking about picking up a White Whale cable as well...but I want to see if they will release a 4.4mm Manta separately as customer service already said to other members of the forum. A multi-termination cable would've been better though, a shame they didn't think of that for this release!

Yes Manta 4.4 is definitely coming (asked their CS about this too). I might order one if I cannot find a good 3rd party cable.

I was told the same thing by HiSenior customer service.

But I pulled out my multimeter, threw it into continuity mode. And guess how the adapter is wired?

L+ on 4.4 goes to L+ on the 2 pin
L- on 4.4 goes to BOTH 2-pins on the ground pin
R+ on 4:4 goes to R+ on the 2-pin
R- on 4.4 goes to BOTH 2-pins on the ground pin
Ground on the 4.4 goes to nothing.

This is not what I was expecting

Basically, it's wired like Figure 5 form this post:

Thank you for the first hand info. Hisenior has to fix this ASAP or at least put out a warning to the buyers to prevent people from frying their expensive DACs and amps.

This sucks, big time. It means these adapters are bought for cheap and not designed by them.

I was already suspicious at the word “complimentary” on the release comms. It sounded like “worthless addition we will never sell separately”, and in fact the design of it is not even as good as the design of the cable it comes with…

Thanks for the confirmation and my suspicions were indeed correct - that adapter is going to wreck/fry a lot of Balanced amps.

Pity those who are not as knowledgeable and just blindly use the adapter. I doubt HiSenior will fix/pay for their amps.

I don’t think they would ever be legally obliged to, but as a customer I can say that it would burn me and it kind of makes me sad they didn’t went straight to 4.4mm + adapter or a real high-quality design for this adapter…
