Just curious if you checked under the pads if the screw holes were even? Meaning were there any holes that had no screws in them?

"The bass is the winner with these headphones. The extension to the sub lows are great, and when paired with an amp, it brings it out even more definition."

Sub lows are slightly fading actually. The only complaint of these headphones a person can make.
But I think it is more neutral with fading sub lows. These headphones are basicly great...

Anyone want to trade me HE-400S for HE-400 Rev. 2?

Listing "Isolation" as a con for an open headphone is just... redundant.

I agree with RERO, listing isolation as a con for open back headphones is unnecessary.

I think too much is being made of the bit of bass rolloff these have. I believe the response was flat until 40 Hz, which is actually quite linear, and it is a rare song that will really make you notice anything below that.

Thanks RERO and nmatheis, I see your point, I have taken isolation off the cons list, but I still feel that these could have been better at isolating the outside noise.

Man, these things are absolutely stunning. They are way sexier looking than the HE-500s. I'm sort of surprised to see that HiFiMan is still using the same stock grills after modders proved that a simple change in material to something with a lower metal-to-air ratio improves the sound stage and SQ. One would think that after umpteen entries into the HE- ortho series they'd have gotten around to improving the grills.

Little too statistical oriented than emotional/personal opinion oriented for my taste but overall really well written review, nice job friend.
