Excellent review. It felt like deja vu reading the review, then I realised that I already read the review from EF400 thread still went ahead and read it again.

I am on verge of pulling the trigger on this, I recently sold my SU8s+A30 Pro stack thinking of buying a single solution. I decided to buy K9 Pro and then I read your review.

I am a big fan of that smooth analog sound. My headphones are LCD2C and HD6XX but all I have are singlended cables.

Is there any big benifit using the balancded on EF400?

I recently got the Meze Elite and wondering about DAC/amp pairings. I'm currently using the Burson Conductor 3P. I think this might be something to try next.

Listened to this in an Audio meet recently and was very impressed. Paired well with my Arya V2 and HE-R9. But what put me off was the actual size of the R2R Chip. Found the image of the chip online and if that is the actual chip they are using,i don't know how credible this product is as most R2R DACs have huge arrays of resistors.

Wish that there were some evaluations with dynamic drivers which have different load characteristics compared to planar drivers. The HD800s & Focal clear would help with the buying decision for owners of dynamic drivers.

@touchzen The R2R chip is actually believed to be superior due to better resistor tolerances, that was discussed recently in the Ibasso DX320 thread.

If you'll get the EF400, just use the balanced output, not too expensive to get a balanced cable and it's always worth it

@rev92 Buddy, so I just got the EF400 for my HeK V2 (wrote you on IG), and it is amazing! That timbre is just sooo addictive. Voices and words being whispered. And the tone of acoustic instruments just reverberating through.

Waiting to comment on the rest as I've put the thing through its paces, but dang, I'm thrilled!

This vs the Audio-gd R2R11 MK2 would be an interesting comparison.
On paper this has the previously unassailable oriental all-in-one beat on most fronts.

Took your advice placed the order for EF400 and balanced cables for both of my headphones.

In the market for an R2R desktop to use with my lcd-x and I think this is it, great review you sold me!

@rev92, you mentioned, that it is a gread preamp. Have you tested that? I received my unit few days ago and wanted to try the EF400 with my active speakers, but I can not control the volume via the EF400 which is really crappy. Is there maybe a trick or something like that?
