it is a long review, I prefer a summary section at the end

And if you look directly above you - there IS a summary section :)
I don't intend shortening my reviews - I'd rather be thorough.  I'd appreciate this format if I was looking for info on an IEM I was interested in.  YMMV.

Great review with great pics.  Do you have any impressions on the sound vs. your full-sized HP's?

That's a really good question - one I hadn't really thought about.  Quick trial - right now:
DN-1000 vs DT880.  The Beyer is brighter, a little more detailed, more spacious.  DN-1000 is richer with more bass impact, and more focus on the mid-range.
DN-1000 vs HD600.  The Senn is a little brighter, a lot more spacious.  DN-1000 has slightly more bass impact.  Mids similar with sense of space being biggest difference.
DN-1000 vs RS1.  The Grado is much brighter.  Sense of space is actually pretty similar - maybe the Grado wider but not by much.  Bass is similar weight - mids have a different feel to them.  I think it's the bright vs dark (and the DN-1000 is not a dark IEM IMO)

Closest of my 3 full sized cans would be the HD600 tonally - with sense of space being biggest difference.

Hope that helps

That's super helpful, thanks for the comparison!  I have the HD600 and love the signature.  This may put the DN-1000 on my short list.

Fantastic review, detailed and enjoyable but I have one question. For the price they are sold, is there anything better in IEM's?
(I was convinced to buy them seeing the reviews overall, but do they offer a WOW factor for their price?)
Thanks!!!

Thanks.  Yes they do have a definite WOW factor - as long as you find tips that will give you a decent seal.  The only thing I struggle with for long term listening is comfort.  I've been using Monster gel tips which give me a guaranteed seal - but over time the size can irritate my ear (ie after 2-3 hours).  With the comply tips - they are very comfortable - but I can't always guarantee a great seal.  If they could get the current DN-1000 sound with a slightly smaller bore - I think they'd be perfect.  Of course that is just me and my preferences.  YMMV.  I love the signature of these though.

How is it compared to heir 3ai s
Brooko

Unfortunately I don't have the Heir 3a - so can't give you a basis for comparison.  The gear I have now, or owned in the past, is in my profile if that helps.
