ddHiFi

ddHiFi is a well known audio brand that makes some of the most unique and rare audio adapters, as well as portable USB DAC dongles, various cables and other accessories. All of their products have a premium appearance and are exceptionally well made, using only the best materials.

ddHiFi DJ44MOJO

A newly released accessory is the ddHiFi DJ44MOJO, an audio adapter specifically made for the Chord Mojo 2 (also compatible with the original Mojo). People familiar with this battery powered, portable DAC/amp will know that it has two single ended 3.5mm headphone outputs that are simultaneously active. For earphones and headphones that have a cable with a 4.4mm plug, someone must use a 3.5mm male to 4.4mm female adapter. While this solution works well, it is not the most practical or visually appealing.

The ddHiFi DJ44MOJO is a specially designed adapter that converts the two 3.5mm outputs to one 4.4mm by combining their left and right channels respectively with a common ground pin for the best shielding effect.

This is not the first adapter of this kind, a company named PW Audio also makes one but with questionable aesthetics, expensive price and with limited availability. Another one is from Garage Box, a beautiful looking and well designed adapter but a quite expensive one.

Non Audio stuff

The ddHiFi DJ44MOJO has an external design that conforms to the design language of the Mojo by adopting a well matching appearance. Actually, the DJ44MOJO reminds a lot of the Chord Poly streamer that attaches to the other side of the Mojo but is much more compact and lightweight. The adapter measures 62×22×21.6mm and weighs 48g so it doesn't add much bulk and weight to the Mojo.

The adapter is made from sturdy CNC-ed aluminum alloy and has a hidden bottom cover with screwless design. The plugs adopt straight design, the height of which is comparable to that of the 4.4mm headphone socket, thus enhancing the aesthetics of use. The internal wiring uses the typical ddHiFi OCC cable which is soldered with silver-containing solder to ensure lossless transmission of the audio signal.

The DJ44MOJO attaches perfectly without leaving any visible gaps between the adapter and the main body of the Mojo. The connection is firm so the adapter doesn't move or feel loose and it looks sturdy enough to withstand some accidental bending force. You can also use the DJ44MOJO with the Mojo 2 original leather case without any fit issues.

Audio stuff

The ddHiFi DJ44MOJO is a plain adapter and it will not magically improve the audio performance of the Mojo 2 so don't get fooled if you read such comments somewhere in a random audio forum.

The adapter is sonically transparent and it will not degrade the audio quality of the Mojo 2. The sound performance of the Mojo 2 is absolutely the same with or without the adapter. Nothing added and nothing taken, the DJ44MOJO is a high quality adapter that does not affect the sound quality.

Conclusion

The ddHiFi DJ44MOJO is an exceptionally well made and designed adapter that perfectly matches with the outer appearance of the Mojo 2 and converts its two 3.5mm sockets into a 4.4mm one. It is lightweight and not that bulky while it is sonically transparent and doesn't degrade the sound quality of the Mojo 2.

I also tried it it's a very well built adapter.
I hoped it would remove the noise when connecting to xduoo 604 tube amps on 4.4mm as ddhifi claimed they did some ground loop thing. but it did not it behaved just any other 3.5mm to 4.4mm adapter.
Funfact when using 3.5mm to XLR cables the noise is not noticed. Something to do with 4.4mm conversion on xduoo.

But it's as you described very usefull adapter for uniform look and easy 4.4mm connection for your headphone and IEMs.
Really nice and sleek adapter.
