Pros: great tone
bass while way too high does not obscure the mids
midrange totally amongst the best
build quality
presentation
Cons: bass in your face - too much bass quantity
cost to performance ratio not good
First huge thanks to Justin Wilson at Headamp.com for the loaner.

I had these along with two others for about one week to play with. After some back and forth I settled in on these as the tonality was far superior than the other two models..

I tested these with a variety of tracks form Dave Brubeck, Miles Davis, Pearl Jam, Shelby Lynn, Norah Jones and Led Zeppelin. My source was a Schiit Yggy GS and Lumin T2 and the amp is a custom FET based amp.

Vocals were sublime with these headphones with great body and lifelike presence. They do a nice job of putting you with the vocalist in Ann alternate reality.
Details were good but not up with the very best. I would say these have $1k-1.5k level of detail retrieval. Vocal reverb and decay were limited and cymbal hits were one dimensional. Again not bad just not up with the better headphones I have.
Bass - oh the bass. These are truly unique in how they are semi sealed with a gasket that allows the tuning of the headphone by the manufacture. The bass was at least 5 db too loud and I could not have these as a main set of headphones based on this flaw (or feature depending on your preference :) ).

Midrange was sweet and was among the best I've heard tonaly although not the best with details. Vocals, guitars, Keys all were enjoyable (sans the bass distractions)

compared to the Meze Empyrean, Focal Utopia, ZMF Veritie Closed or Rosson RAD-0 they were in or above the price of most of these but were well below the total performance of them.

I gave them 3 stars for the tone, midrange and bling build. The pads are awesome if you have ever experienced grado ear rash after a few hours. These were really beautiful and comfortable.

Right not these are a pass for me but may be right for the audiophile basshead (is there such a thing).

New Head-Fier
Pros: excellent head stage
Cons: Important price
I have owned these headphones for a few months and I can tell you that they are superb headphones providing great entertainment.

It is so easy to find yourself tapping the foot along the rhythm of music and then losing the sense of time!

It is versatile with all genres: Keb 'Mo' blues guitar sounds like you're in the front row, E. Rava and J. Lovano's Jazz album "Roma" becomes engaging and intense while Chantal Chamberland's voice is warm and full-bodied even by turning up the volume.

It seems that these headphones need to be played loudly so you have to provide them with a decent amount of power to make them perform well. I use A&K Kann and FiiO M11 dap (with balanced cable 2.5 and 4.4), and Chord TT2 - that is very powerful.

The bass response is clearly the strongest point of this project. If you love rock music or the organ instrument, the energy released will make you vibrate!

I have also ordered the balanced XLR cable to connect it to my Audio-GD NFB1 amplifier. The sound seems more crystal clear and precise with a sound stage that amazed me even though they are closed back headphones.

I have forgot to mention it earlier because when you listen to the music you easily forget that they are closed back! And, the insulation is actually pretty good. They certainly do not weigh like a feather because they are all made of anodized aluminum. I however find them quite comfortable to wear even for long time and delight the audiophile in me!

Pros: - mobile listening
- high performance with all musical genres
- soundstage similar to an open headphones
Cons: NA
L'ascolto ti porta all'interno del concerto!

New Head-Fier
hi, I am a happy owner of the splendid headphones Spirit Torino Radiante version 1706.
The headphones were listened to both at home, in the office and on the road (on the subway, train and on foot).
In none of these situations have I found the headphones uncomfortable or heavy to wear. Even walking on foot, the possession of headphones remains stable in order not to affect listening.
I listen to the headphones every day for about 3 hours.
The headphones were suppressed after a first fast listening at 24 hours of pink noise.
For the perception, in the case of the Astell AK70 I find that the ideal volume volume for "energetic" listening is 130/150 in most recordings. In the case of recordings a little higher even around 110-120, adequate pressure is obtained.
In the case of low recordings or passages less "forte fortissimo" I resorted to the whole volume of the AK70.
The insulation with the pads designed with "Dekoni" is excellent.
I listen to the "Radiante" with all genres of music from classical music to rock and electronics.
In all my plays I preferred the + 2db diaphragm setup.
The piano has a full-bodied and defined sound. I improved the performance by joining AK70 + Aune B1s.
The fast passages from low to high notes do not disappoint and remain defined and decisive.
Con il setup del diagramma a 0db il pianoforte a volumi alti rimaneva eccessivo e leggermente invasivo sulle altre note.
Listening to the Organ is truly impressive. Even with the few millwatts of the AK70
The soundstage in the case of live jazz listening is excellent near an open headphones. The position of the individual instruments is perceived.
The soundstage in the first track of the album "live at '' SOMEDAY '' in Tokyo" by B.Watson - T.Made & Tokyo L. Big Band gives the feeling of the jazz club
Listening to Rock music is truly exciting a real pleasure the more you listen and the more you want to listen even at high volumes it does not tire listening.
The drums in Dire Straits' "Money For Nothing" is decidedly clean and never excessive.
I find the album "SanFrancisco Symphony And Metallica - S&M" very interesting both for the recording and for the musical event itself. Listening takes you inside the concert!

Headphoneus Supremus
I just picked up a Radiante 1706. I am absolutely loving this headphone. It is so much fun...

System for listening:
Roon Labs - USBe Perfect - Denafrips Pontus II - Bottlehead Mainline (upgraded Aura Caps) or Cembalo Spring 1.

I listen to mostly improvisational music. Live shows, jazz, funk, bluegrass, etc. Lately, I have been listening to Phish's latest tour with 24/96 files.

I bought this headphone because it was tuned to recreate the mix and energy of a live show. I figured it would become my daily driver for all things live music, and I would continue to use my ZMF Auteur and Hifiman Code X for everything else. I have the Portento Cable, which is phenomenal, and an Apos Red XLR, which is also a great cable. Although not as open and detailed as the Portento. Unfortunately, my Portento has a short so it is out of commission until I can figure out how to get it fixed.

The Radiante 1706 is absolutely insane. I am not sure you can start any impressions of this headphone without talking about the bass. The bass is like nothing I have heard from a headphone. It truly recreates the fullness of Mike Gordon's bass and has him exactly where he sits in the mix of a show. I am using a small -3db bass shelf at 259hz through Roon. Outside of that I have not touched the sound. The bass is extremely fast, tight, full and present. Subbass goes forever without any roll off discernable to my amateur ears. The midbass is full and does not bleed into the mids at all. The most amazing part of this headphone is that the bass holds the entire FR together without bleeding. It as if they tuned it to be the predominant part of the sound without distracting any other part of the mix. It is extremely coherent and organized. Subtle and detailed. Because of its bass power it gives you the sensation that the headphone is not as detailed as other headphones in its price range. I traded a Stellia for the Radiante 1706 and do not believe it is any less detailed. It is just different and once you take in the bass the midrange opens up. This is not a bass lovers headphone. This is a headphone for someone who wants to recreate the energy and sound of your favorite live performances.

As incredible as the bass sounds, I love the midrange even more. Vocals are intense, and realistic with beautiful tonality. Guitars sound gutsy, and lifelike. I can hear Trey's entry into the note and the sustain of his effects. I can hear Trey playing above the mix, floating to the clouds. All of the micro and macro detail is present. It just took me a minute to hear how it was being presented. I don't believe it is suppressing anything, it is faithfully representing the recording.

The treble is also beautifully rendered. I had read that cymbals and high hats were a bit one dimensional. I am not sure if I can tell this as I find the totality of the sound to be extremely holographic. My only complaint is the size of the soundstage, which is limited by the tuning and being a closed back headphone. I should qualify this statement. The Rediante's soundstage depth is top notch. If I were to use one word to describe the Radiante, it would be depth. In all aspects of its FR, there is a ton of depth. Width and height are not at the same level, but I don't think that is the point of this headphone.

Amp Pairings:
I have 2 wonderful amps. My Bottlehead Mainline and Cembalo Labs Spring 1. Most will know the Mainline as it is the summit of the Bottlehead design philosophy and an extremely musical and insightful listen. The Mainline and Radiante are a great pairing. Everything softens up and it becomes less intense and more romantic. Bass is still deep and full, and the midrange is extremely articulate. Cymbals and high hats are beautifully rendered and overall it is a pleasant listen. However, I feel the Radiante prefers my other amp. That is where my Cembalo comes in. A rare amp these days. I would guess there are less than 10 in existence. I am lucky to have one. The Cembalo Spring 1 is the best SS amp I have yet to own. I don't think I will ever sell it. It is designed for hungry planars. It is swinging a lot of voltage and has a ton of gain. Although its spec sheet claims 150mw at 62ohm, it can power the Susvara at 10:00 on the volume pot. It is a beast, with a clean, slightly warm tuning. The Radiante comes to life on the Spring 1. The bass becomes even more distinct, and faster with clearer delineation. The pluck of the string is now audible. The midrange is a tad more forward with the Spring 1 giving no hint whatsoever of recession. The treble is sizzling without being hot and sibilant. I can't speak highly enough about this pairing. If you want to hear the Radiante's full potential, I highly recommend a clean SS amp. If you find PRAT to be the most important aspect of a headphone, then you will love the Radiante. Its sense of timing is spot on.

Power Requirements:
The Radiante doesn't need a lot of current. But, just as it is fantastic at taking to EQ, it changes with the type of amplification. The Radiante is an extremely flexible and versatile headphone if you are willing to fiddle around and find its core.

DAC Pairings:
I have tried the Radiante with 3 different DACs. My reference Pontus II, a 9038 Pro DAC and a CEntrance DACportable. The only one that I did not like was the 9038 Pro DAC. It just isn't as good a DAC as my other 2. The DACportable is a pretty neat little device with 700mw of power into 32ohm and a great DAC. The Radiante sounds awesome through it. Although I mostly listen to my DACportable at work and I am not going to bring the Radiante to work. Plus, my Portento cable is broken which renders my DAC portable useless with the Radiante for the time being. Fortunately, the Pontus is more than enough for my system and its musical nature pairs beautifully with my amps and the Radiante.

If you are on the fence or curious about this headphone it will be worth your time if you listen to a lot of live music. If you listen to mostly "audiophile" music I wouldn't recommend it as it is definitely not an audiophile tuning. But, if you listen to Jazz, funk, bluegrass or improvisational live music the Radiante may just be your perfect headphone. For my tastes, I have hit the lottery.

Thank you to Spirit Torino for making such an incredible headphone. It is comfortable, and I simply can't get enough. Plus, it is a gorgeous headphone with incredible parts and a simple design. My only problem was finding the right fit to get a good seal. Once I dialed in the fit, I was off to the races. There are no hot spots for me, but I rarely listen for more than 90 minutes at a time with 3 kids and a demanding job. I appreciate every minute I am spending with the Radiante 1706. It may just be another headphone in my stable I will never sell. That means my days of trading are going to slow down as I can't find myself getting rid of the Auteur, Code X or Radiante. I guess I will need to save for my next headphone.
