interesting review, but it is unclear to me from the review whether you purchased the Cascade or were offered it freely by the manufacturer. I would like to know because some reviewers indicate that they "receive free of charge"(are given as a present by the manufacturer or the national distributor or importer) an item in retribution for a review.
Sounds like an excellent set of headphones. The various filters are a fantastic idea. Would love to hear impressions vs. Audeze LCD-2, HiFiMan HE-560 and other planar magnetics in this price range.
Given my super short time with them at CanFest, I think described them perfectly. At first I wasn't overly impressed, but with time I could definitely see the appeal. I just think they're a bit over-priced. Hopefully that will level out soon. Thanks for the great review, and getting a set for us try out at the meet.
Excellent, thank you very much, Wijjen, for this clarification.
It is much better so for me to know that you do not receive any compensation, because I don't trust the reviews by people who receive the item to be reviewed ( which is usually very expensive) for free as a present, gift, and it seems to happen very often unfortunately.
I am very glad this is not the case here and that I can trust your review as unbiased.
Thanks for review. Thinking closed over ear headphone with sound between Aeon and Cascade would be better listening experience. Thinking "PM-3 with more emphatic bass." Bummer about isolation effectiveness. Better to have included inner earpad dimensions. Readers of review do not know size of reviewers ears. General observation about cables: Why do cable makers put colored band on left connector for general consumer market? Red band on right connector is all that's required.
Pad sizes were already specified on Campfire's website and in main Cascade thread, but just for reference sake
Earpad Dimensions
Outside OD approx – 2.75-inch wide x 4 inch tall
Inside ID is approx – 1.5 inch wide x 2.5 inch
just wondering if you are experiencing looseness where the sliding adjusters go into the headband, mine have some looseness and tend to make some noise when flexing the band, wondering if this normal as per design.
