New Head-Fier
Pros: IPX4 water resistance and APT-X Support As compared to D900
Cons: Less than firm Grip in Ear. Complex Paring

The Syllable D900S is a really Innovative and truly wireless Earbuds design that eliminates ALL the Wires. Typically with Bluetooth Earphones, you'd expect the earphones to be connected by a wire which essentially has a Control Pad inline. However, that's not the case here. We have The Earpieces completely separated from each other. You can use One or Both of them at any give point. Only Caveat is that the Right Ear unit is the dominant one.

Essentially, The pair came in a somewhat Drab package. The Colors are not very appealing and look faded. The Specs are in English and Chinese on the back. Not very detailed but they convey the main message. The same specs are on the Guide inside. The QR Code takes you to Syllable's Website. Inside the Package we have

  1. The Pair in Transparent Dock/Box
  2. User Manual in 5 Languages
  3. Quick Start Guide
  4. USB to MicroUSB Charging Cable
  5. Cloth Carrying Case.
  6. Lanyard string to attach to the two units.

The User Manual is not very intuitive and detailed. It gives basic information on Charging and pairing. So too the Quick Start Guide so to speak. The Dock gave me a hard time to open the First time.

NOTE- Please note, there is a very thin plastic film on the Charging pins of individual Earbuds. Its difficult to see unless you know its there. You must remove it once you unpack everything.

Each earbud has a multipurpose button. That is used for Power ON/OFF, play START/STOP and call related functions. The white border along the periphery of the earbud actually is the LED indicator. It too is multi colored multi purpose. Its used in Pairing, charging and battery level indication. The rubber piece of the earbud is more like a cap that sits at the end of the earbud. It has a arched hook that helps the bud sit in the ear very well.

Pairing -

This is one area that's bit unique. Per the instruction manual, you are supposed to pair the right earbud first with your phone. The way you do this, is by powering on the earbud and then keep the button pressed until the indicator blinks red. At this point it is discoverable on the phone as Syllable Bud. Once that is paired, you are supposed to pair the 2 earbuds with each other. However this is the step that causes a lot of confusion and issues. Most commonly I ended up getting sound only in right bud and not left one. Eventually I found this Youtube Video that helped a lot. It turns out, in order for the 2 buds to pair with each other, you have to power them on simultaneously and hold on to the power button until both have the LEDs blinking red. Well, the right led blinks Green first before blinking red, so you need to wait till it blinks red. This step right here is dramatically different from the predecessor D900. Once the two are paired to each other, you can go back to the phone and just hit connect for the Earbud. That will get Stereo sound.

Charging -

One point that needs to be noted  is about charging. The Dock/box is an intelligent Charger. It happens to have its own battery that charges the Earbuds. When plugged in, the battery within the box is charged. There are 3 blue indicator lights on the box that indicate level of charge for the battery in the box. The earbuds too have their own indicator ring along the periphery. That indicates if the buds are fully charged or not. The Dock takes about 2 hours to fully charge with a USB connection. The earbuds take about 30 to 40 minutes.

Performance -

Where performance is concerned, the primary thing I noticed is the short leash. The buds can only be barely 4 to 5 Meters away. In Particular the Right one. It start to cut out beyond that range. If Right one cuts out then left one sympathetically cuts out.   As far as Battery Life is concerned, I found that it lasted beyond Specified life of 4 Hours. In my cast it lasted about 5 & 1/2 to 6 hours.  I tried using intermitantly with standby times in between. But then too it was same 4 &1/2 to 5 hour playback time. I did not try to use them as Bluetooth earpiece for calls. Volume overall is pretty loud for such a tiny device.

N'SYNC - BYE BYE BYE

The vocals were reproduced about right. No complaints.

Eminem - Not Afraid

Eminem's Voice was reproduced pretty well, I suspect, the beats weren't as well.

Fallout boy - Thanks for the Memories

Better Reproduction.  Vocal frequencies are really well reproduced.

Flo Rida - Right Round

Music seemed bit subdued Vocals were really nice.

ColdPlay - Viva la vida

Similar experience as that of other songs.

If someone wants me to try out a specific song, feel free.

Footnote - I got my Pair on Amazon. Item Link
FootNote 2 - My Right Earbud Refused to Charge after 2 weeks of getting them. It would not charge no matter where I plugged in.

New Head-Fier
Pros: Easy Design, better Noise insulation
Cons: Connection Profiles
After seeing the convenience and ease with Mixcder Basso, my wife wanted one for the running. Since the description stated longer battery, I wanted to try out the Mixcder Runto, figured if it does not work, the loss won't be much great. On the flip side, it would be like the Basso.

Posting my thoughts here, since I didn't see one mentioned on this forum.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS -

Given bellow are key Technical Specs. For a detailed list of specifications, please review manufacturer's website.

My observations are in Parenthesis.

The device comes in a slim package with a USB Charging Cable (USB => MicroUSB), User Manual but no additional ear buds. You quickly realize that those are not replaceable. But the design is different. Instead of over the ear, those hooks go above your eardrum and snag in your ear. Look on Amazon to see how it fit. That point can be bit painful. So look carefully before deciding.

Like the basso, there is a controller on the connecting wire.
DSC_0091.jpg

The buttons are pretty straightforward. The middle button is multi-function button. The + and - are bit raised than the Play/pause/power button. Makes for ease of identifying.

The fit is pretty snug and offer good sound insulation for an IEP. I was surprised as I didn't expect Sound insulation, let alone Noise Cancellation.

PAIRING -

Pairing is fairly straightforward. You press the Play/Pause/Multi function Button to power it on. Keep it pressed to get into Pairing mode. There is an Audio Cue indicating device is in pairing Mode. The device will be recognized as Mixcder Runto.

It offers Headset and Handsfree Telephony as two prominent profiles on the phone. Its supposed to offer following profiles.

HSP - Standard Headset
HFP - Handsfree Profile
A2DP - Pretty much permitting remote control of the player / phone (Play Pause etc)
AVRCP - Extension of A2DP, allwing remote volume control of TVs etc. (I wasn't able to do this at all)

MUSIC QUALITY AND Movie reproduction -

When I was putting this through the paces, I used this to listen to music with Windows PC as well as play audiobook on phone. I did test calls (More on it here in a bit) Primarily I was interested in Quality of music reproduction as that was the primary criteria for my wife.

The reproduction of sounds is rich, crisp and clear. I felt a trace of elevation on the higher freqencies. (Beethovan's 5th on Piano)  Human voice frequencies were definitely subdued. I know, this is a matter of perception and everyone's experience will be different.

As I said earlier, I do like the insulation or Noise Cancellation aspects of the device, outside sounds were reduced. I found it to be matching the HV-600 in this regard.

Now as to making or receiving calls is concerned, I felt distinctly that the voices were more guttural and deep. Also the sound of the wire dangling when walking came through more on a call than music.

As before, I used my previous selection of songs to test.

Justin Timberlake - What Goes Around

JT came through as expected. Nice and Smooth Beats were normal, same as PC Speaker without equalizer.

Natasha Beddingfield - Pocketful of Sunshine

Near Concert level. True CD Experience. The MP3 is 187 KBPS

Maroon 5 - Makes me Wonder

Little bit Bass. Speaker were vibrating as if the song was pushing the limits.

Flo Rida - Right Round

Slightly Bassy on music. Could be my imagination. His voice cane fine.

All Americal Rejects - Dirty Little Secrets

Pretty Good Reproduction of the Vocals. Music seemed Bassy.

If someone wants me to try out a specific song, feel free.

Footnote - Runto is on  Amazon for $28.99

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS -

Given bellow are key Technical Specs. For a detailed list of specifications, please review manufacturer's website.

BLUETOOTH -
Bluetooth version - 4.1+EDR
BT profiles -HSP/HFP/A2DP/AVRCP
Range - 10 m (My tests started to cut in and out at ~9 meters)
Transmission power - Class 2 0.025-2.5mW
Impedance  - ≤2.2kΩ

BATTERY -
Battery Capacity - 400 maH
Standby time -  >500 hours
Music/ Audio Playback time - 20 hours
Charge time - ~2 hours. (For me it was roughly 3 hours but I didn't exactly time it.)

FIRST IMPRESSIONS -

This item comes in 2 color schemes on Amazon. I chose to go with Blue on white instead on red on black. Thought those were more refreshing. But its just a matter of preference. The pair arrived in a white box. The finish looks pretty decent. Didn't like the fact that this is not leather. But then that's what you get at this price I suppose. But the fitting is comfortable. The over-the-ear speaker does not rotate, only adjusts to size and comfort. It comes with two cables, one for MicroUSB charging and the other for 3.5 mm jack. The controlling buttons are on right speaker where as charging port and probably the battery is on left. There's 3 buttons, two to control volume and one for power and BT Pairing. You have to get the hang of which button is where for a while before you get used to it. The 3.5mm jack is also next to the power button.

PAIRING -

The manual falls short here again. But having learned my lesson before, I turned the unit off and then held down the power button till it turned on and said pairing mode. Then I turned on the Bluetooth for the TV Stick and it  paired right away with android recognizing the device as Mixcder Shareme. I paired with 2 laptops and my phone. They all paired very well. However range for each device was different. The laptop had the longest range guess due to the Intel IDR BT controller.

MUSIC QUALITY AND Movie reproduction -

With this being Over the Ear, I was DEFITELY looking for Quality movie reproduction preferably theatre effect. My TV Box does offer Dolby Digital output, so tested with Transformers Dark side of the Moon. The Car chase scenes were reproduced pretty well. On Fast and Furious, Tokyo Drift, the tire squealing was pretty life like.  (At least in my opinion. Not Audiophile) External sounds were pretty muffled with barely any interference.

I am not planning on listening to music with this pair. However for the purpose of testing, I tried out some songs that I had with 320kbps. Particularly those that I knew were quadrophonic, I could discern the effects very well. Again those were reproduced better with my TV box as compared to the laptop.
Last but not the least is to mention the SHAREME feature of this pair. The way this works is that you pair this headphone with another BT headphone. Once done, you pair this pair to the Music player or other device. This way the sound is shared to the other pair from the original device. This is useful if the original device does not support pairing to more than one device at the same time.

It is said that ShareMe is special for it's function of share the music or sound with another people on one device.  Don't you know this point?

in fact I have got a pair of ShareMe and I buy them for the special function of ShareMe function which is designed for families or couples, I think it's the biggest point in this device.
Also I think maybe it's better to point out this Share function in a review, so that people can know all the fact and functions and features about a special product,  especially on head-fi.org, this is a great  forum that all users and reviewers here are professional and willing to read a comprehensive review. all in all thanks for your review.
