Thanks, monkey046 and Laura. monkey046, just make sure when you hear it for the first time, in order to hear what it is capable of, make sure you have a amp with plenty of juice to do it justice. :)

If they only could drop the weight and fix the ergonomics as well as perhaps cut 1/2 off the price...

@Sweden, I believe there will be another headphone from JPS, the Diana, which may suit your purposes.

@Beagle: that's why I always advocate listening as well rather than just rely on FR graphs. :)

True, although it has been my experience that if a FR graph of a headphone has a lot of peaks and valleys, the 'phone may sound great and exciting for a while, but over the long haul (weeks, months, years), I eventually begin to squirm. Oddly enough, it happens more often with pricier headphones.

Indeed! Though that has yet to happen with the Abyss. :) It's great even for quiet moments when I just want simple acoustic vocals. :)

Being a former Abyss owner, I agree with Beagle..

A great review, if I had the money, I would get this headphone.

Nice Review.
That price! Yikes!

Lovely cans but you lost me I'm afraid with the 'specialist' power cables, supplies and USB cable...

Initially, they lost me with the price. You could buy a pair of superb Harbeth loudspeakers for that kind of dough. But....some people can afford it and it is for them.

Great review, I would love to hear these out of my system! I suppose this is the best headphone my WA22 is capable of driving, with the higher-powered power tubes of course.

@MagicMan: heheh! Sorry about that. I just wanted to ensure that the reader knew what the Abyss was being paired with so that it provides context. :)

@Beagle: at least it is cheaper than portable - look at the price of the AK380Cu...

@grokit: Oooh... You have the WA22.... I only have the WA2 which struggles a little, but I suspect the WA22 will enough juice.

I'm interested to hear comparisons to the other excellent headphones you own.
