Excellent review! I'd only slightly disagree with you in that I think the U12t is special in every single category - perhaps it doesn't score 100% but compared to almost every IEM bar that $3K+ crazy units, it outdoes most $1000+ IEMs in every department, possibly with the exception of DD bass specialists, as you mention. Considering the U12t out-resolves one of the world's most resolving headphones (HD800), and beats it handily for bass response and weight, any suggestion that resolution 'suffers' is only by comparison to those overpriced flagships that squeeze every bit of resolution from their treble response at the cost of the smooth, warm sound that makes the U12t so versatile - and unique - among the flagships.

A good and honest review. I find the U12t has an overall smooth, neutral and easy-to-listen sound profile. Can’t go wrong with it.

Did you really mean that with the M15 module the bass increases? I ask as with the A18 the M15 gives less bass and a lighter presentation, where the M20 will increase the bass and impact. Just checking. Tks.

@Frankie D I agree; must be a typo as the M20 is the bassier of the two modules (interesting bc it seems that @ustinj also made a typo regarding the modules in his review below...coincidence?)
otherwise I really enjoyed the review, thanks @Precogvision
i would add that where I believe the U12‘s strenghts lie (and where it stands out to me) are in its ability to be clinical, analytical, and precise, while offering excellent instrument separation.

@gnahra @Frankie D I think you guys might be confused, haha. Verbatim the text says “Swapping the M15 module for the M20 module will also give you a slight bass boost.” So taking out the M15 and putting in the M20, and not vice versa. To be clear, the M20 will give you the bass boost. Hope this clears it up!

Edit: I see how you guys read it now. “Swapping” can act on either of them. Lol, funny how our brains work.

@Precogvision You experienced the sound cutout, didn't you? i have experienced the same, but when you bought this 2nd IEM, which cable was stock with it? stock cable or aftermarket cable? and it happened with stock or other cable. Now i'm intending to buy the new one, i am wordering that it could happen again if i only use stock cable for a long use.

@DeviantArt Yes, I did! It was the stock cable. I’ve since swapped it out for a more pliable one as I don’t trust it. The stock cable’s memory wire is just a crappy feature and exacerbates the strain on the connector joint.

@Precogvision so for now you use an other aftermarket cable? does it make this issue again? I am concerning this issue a lot that make me hesitating to purchase this IEM now.
