    Need to replace MAudio Q40s

At lunch I ran to a place nearby that had the M-100 but it turns out they didnt fit well at all and I really wasnt pleased with the sound. It felt a bit muddy to me so those are off the list While I was there they had a pair of ATH-50x (but they were wireless) that I really liked. For some...

    Need to replace MAudio Q40s

Thank you for the reply! Ive been eyeing the Meze 99's as they seem almost perfect. The 1mores also look great, thanks for that suggestion. My only concerns are Ive read both of these are more on-ear rather than true circumaural. For example the Sen Momentum 2.0's over ears actually are on...

Where to start for home audio?

Thats awesome, thanks for the links it'll get me going. Re: 2 channel or home theater...Im still deciding. Im leaning toward a 7.1 system switchable to 2 ch and concentrating on good speakers and sub for a 2ch setup. That way at least the system is flexible.

Where to start for home audio?

Im looking to build a home audio system primarily for listening to music, but have no idea where to start. Does anyone have a suggestion? Forums similar to this one but home audio? Thanks in advance! Jason

    Questions about Grados?

I had pretty much the exact same questions you had and picked up the 80's at a good price and love the heck out of the headphones. I find myself having more fun with the music through those headphones than anything else in my admittedly small collection. I may at some point go to the MS1i or...

    Bass-heavy Portable Cans?

Ill have to add in the Sennheiser px100. Great sound for the size/price, and the bass really surprised me. Whatever you get theres a vendor on this site offering a deal on px100's with every order; get them and spread the love.

Ultrasone Zino Headphone Review and impressions - Small, collapsible and 'bright 'n shiny from top to bottom'

Great review, it helped me a lot with my decision. Thanks for taking the time to write it up! I think Ill pass on the Zinos for now until I can get a chance to hear the s-logic. Im not sure I would like it or not.

How long can you wear headphones?

10 hours was the longest Ive used my PX100's without any trouble on a diverted flight from AMS to ORD once.

For those who have heard the Q40's...is there a better set of hip-hop cans under $200?

I think you should enjoy your new headphones. In my opinion, to a non-analytical audiophile who just want to hear their music well like myself (and Im guessing you to be as well), any money spent on new phones now is going to result in smaller and smaller incremental improvements nowhere near...

    Headphone recommendations on Head-Fi - a suggestion ..

Uncle Erik brings up a lot of good points. It seems that people new to this (like myself) need a reference point from which to start. It might be interesting to have 3 or 4 threads describing an individuals progression through their headphone experience based on the type of music they listen...

    SR-80's quick opinion

So I ditched the slow stuff, you know, to get ready for bed, and threw on some Gojira. "Heaviest Matter in the Universe" (which by the way, is the best metal song of 07'). This song has a long intro where theres a lot of blast beats and guitar cruchyness going on. Shortly thereafter theres a...

    SR-80's quick opinion

Im sitting here listening to my "flying over oceans" mix through my MBook Pro and I just absolutely love these headphones. "Show Us Your Homes" by Eluvium (an ambient artist whos known for a highly textured wall of sound sort of thing) came on and its just incredible. Lows are where I want...

    Headphone recommendations on Head-Fi - a suggestion ..

I like the idea, but can we expand on it and crowdsource the opinions...maybe a poll on each sticky that everyone can vote on so you end up with an aggregate of opinions in a qualitative manner. Maybe to supplement, you could have some text below the poll that state the general opinion on the...

How often do you put both hands on your headphones and nod your head?

I find myself nodding my head a lot with earphones. Especially good ones. Thats how I know which ones I like!

How much of a difference is there in the bass response between these two headphones? Especially on the low end...

I hated the Beats when I listened to them. Waaayyyy too treble-ley for me. I didnt keep them on long enough to want to hear the bass response. I personally hated the SQ.
