Android: Poweramp vs PlayerPro vs Uber Music

Quote: That's definitely not true. The players might have many different features that affects the sound and playback. For example: gapless playback, support for lossless or other non standard codecs, stereo expander, different kinds of EQ, crossfade, different DSP effects like...

Android: Poweramp vs PlayerPro vs Uber Music

Quote: I just checked again. I couldn't hear any glitches either this time, so it seems to be fixed. So if gapless is important, Poweramp would be an obvious choice over Player Pro and Uber Music.

Android: Poweramp vs PlayerPro vs Uber Music

Quote: Have you tried to play gapless MP3 with Poweramp? Last I tried the transition between tracks weren't perfect. Gapless, yes, but there was some noise that shouldn't be there. Maybe it has been fixed now. But that was the reason why I chose Neutron.

Android App for Music with ALAC

Neutron and PowerAmp supports ALAC, probably also Meridian and Andless.

    Neutron Music Player on Android

I have both Neutron and PowerAmp. Neutron sounds better to my ears. The gapless playback on Neutron is perfect, but not on PowerAmp. The EQ is easier to tweak, as it has less bands. But there are no presets so far. I use crossfeed, but I don't change the default settings. I have no idea how it...

    Audiophile Grade Cell phones

Quote: The worst pain is if someone calls you up while you listen to music. When that happens I get so irritated that I want to throw my phone in the wall.

    Android: Neutron Music Player

Quote: I have tried Rockbox for Android. It is unfinished, and I had some playback problems with it. After around 40 minutes it could stop or start shuffling the tracks. The database doesn't work either. So I lost my patience. A couple of weeks ago I bought Neutron. I am very satisfied...

The Official Rockbox for Android Registry

Quote:   I have tried to mask folders on the SD card (using "database.exclude" files).  But it will crash every time. I get the message " *panic* Stkov tagcache " in tiny letters. What could be the reason?

The Official Rockbox for Android Registry

Device name: HTC Desire HD Which version of Android you are running: 2.2 Is your Device rooted?: no Any other information that you think may be helpful:    Database doesn't work - trying to initialize the database will crash the program. Otherwise it works fine and sounds great. I prefer...

    SansaClip+ Rockbox Impressions thread

Quote: Do you think that the BrainWavz really need an amp? I bought SoundMagic PL30 that came with the Fiio E5, but I can't hear that the Fiio improves anything. The clip+ is plenty loud enough to drive the SoundMagics, and so is the HTC Desire HD. So the Fiio is just in the way. I have...

    MP3 Players at CES 2011

I have tried to use my phone for music playback a few times - usually when I have forgotten my Clip+ or it has been out of battery. Every time I have used the phone some idiot got the idea that he/she should call me. That is extremely irritating. There are no phone calls that are more important...

HTC Desire Audio Players - If your still looking I found the best player! - One that does have a decent EQ : O!

I like PowerAmp too. There are two features that I miss:   1) gapless playback (promised in v2. But I would like to try it before I do a purchase. ) 2) Support for "album artist" tags. Now it only reads artist tags. So if you have various artist albums the artist lists will be a mess. I...

    SoundMAGIC PL30 Adjustable Bass Earphones

This is the earphone I bought after my Creative EP630 broke. This one is a lot more solid, and sounds better also. The best thing is that the case also fits my Clip+.

    SansaClip+ Rockbox Impressions thread

Quote:   I have always wondered why many people accept gaps. I don't, and that is the reason why I use Rockbox on my Clip+. No gaps is just as important as no noise. Both ruins the music.

    SansaClip+ Rockbox Impressions thread

Quote:   I just upgraded to todays version, and also installed the latest bootloader. The noise is still there when I start, but it soon disappear. So I don't consider it a problem. The new bootloader is supposed to give a better battery life. I haven't noticed other problems...

    SansaClip+ Rockbox Impressions thread

Quote:   There is one noticable difference: Rockbox has some noises, interference, when you start up, while OF is dead silent. The Rockbox noise disappears or is reduced after a while, and is difficult to hear when there is music. Rockbox has of course a lot of sound enhancing...

Ogg playback on DAPs with gaps?

Chipods have gaps on OGG-files also, at least on the one I have. So even if the OGG format is gapless, there is no guarantee that the player is able to play them gaplessly.

any Android owners recomend must have apps?

Shazam does the same as Google Goggles, except it is for audio. If you want to identify a tune you hear on the radio, Shazam will record a few seconds of it and find it. I tried it yesterday, and it worked. First I tried a Beatles tune, then an old Jan Garbarek recording. It found the right tune...

    Converting WAVE/FLAC to ATRAC Lossless?

There is a virtual disc-drive that let you mount flac-files as a virtual disc. It is called Winmount. Then you can rip the flac files to AAL as if it was a CD. It is probably a lot faster than ripping directly from the original CD. But you can't batch convert a lot of FLACs. I think that...

HTC Droid Eris Vs. Sansa Fuze

Perhaps the sound on the HTC Eris is good, but the software players released so far for the Android platform are just toys. They have some cool features like automatic downloading of lyrics or sharing your playing habits with your friends. But I haven't found any player with an emphasis on sound...

    NW-HD5 and NW-HD3 (Owners)

I still have NWHD1 and NWHD3. I use them when I go for vacation, and occasionally when I take a walk. The HD1 is filled with 64kbs files, and the HD3 is half filled with a mix of 64kbs and 192kbs files - all Atrac3+. I don't hear much difference, especially not on the plane. They cover most of...

Did Apple really steal the portible market from Sony?

I think that many would argue that Sony's first portable player, NWHD1, was technically superior to the then-current iPod: Better sound, perfect gapless playback, longer battery life, better buildt etc. Even their proprietery format, ATRAC3+, was probably better technically than MP3. But MP3 was...
