PC, using USB to external DAC.
It just occurred to me, when you connect your PC to your expensive external DAC via USB does the internal sound card play any part in the process, is it the inbuilt audio chip - usual realtek, Windows 10 basic drivers?- stvn758

Current wisdom on PC CD burning speed and quality.
My Nero burning speed starts at x8 but defaults to x48. The CD itself is good to go at x52. My drive is a Samsung CD/DVD Rewriter. The most convincing argument I have read (to me anyway) while trawling through Google's increasingly obsolete links - ten year old ones on the first page, geez...- stvn758

What's an upgrade for an Audiolab MDAC?
I was looking for a balanced amp but the cost is £1000+, my feeling is an amp is an amp is an amp, whereas an upgraded source will give me a much better boost in quality. I currently have an Audiolab MDAC and Sennheiser HD 800's, I have a Little Dot III tube amp but mostly listen balanced...- stvn758

Here is a cable conundrum - Digital or Analogue?
So I'm rearranging my bedroom and I have a nice new rosewood rack that holds my three Sony 300 CD players and my MDAC and Little Dot Amp. Alas now my kit is going to at least be 3-5metres away from me. Do I get a four metre headphone cable (already on the way actually) Put my MDAC (and...- stvn758

How do you treat your ears?
You spend all that money on a pair of headphones, you debate endlessly the nuances of the music that come through them - anyone give their ears a second thought? Ear drops, going to the Doctors to get them syringed. Could the difference between one high end piece of audio equipment and...- stvn758

SACD
Would having SACD ruin the enjoyment of your normal CD collection? There don't seem to be that many titles anyhow, would it be something you'd regret.- stvn758

Changing PSU to UK Spec.
Even with Import Duties I have seen some bargains to be had, anyone have or know of a company that changes the power supply to UK spec. The internal electronic parts are I assume identical and receive the same current, it's just the PSU has to match that nations mains voltage.- stvn758

Stello DA220MkII
http://www.aprilmusic.com/main/sub02_03_01.html How does this compare to the Benchmark and Lavry and that gorgeous Cambridge Audio 840c CD/DAC, the most notable difference I see is there is no mediocre head amp taking up space and money, just a great DAC. Having searched through some old...- stvn758

CD player with Digital Inputs.
With the Cambridge Audio 840c gathering a great deal of interest on here lately I would like to know if there are any other CD players that offer the same features as it. Being able to use it as a DAC mainly.- stvn758

Best 'High End' DAC.
I have narrowed my choice to the the Benchmark Dac1 and Lavry DA10, are there any more audio 'giant killers' out there. Most Dacs I find are either too cheap or too expensive. I probably couldn't afford the Bel Canto eDAC3, £2000 in the UK, but any around a grand. Both the above have built...- stvn758

Adjustible Headphones..
Noticing the only difference between the open Ultrasone 2500's and their closed 750 brothers were little holes I wondered has there ever been an adjustible headphone? You give the main can a twist to open up holes/chambers and give them more or less oomph depending on the music you are...- stvn758

Optical to Coax Converter.
Most DACs have just one of each, I have two optical outs from my CD player. I have Googled and seen some cheap looking adapters that will do the job, does anyone know of a more audiophile way to do it.- stvn758

Make Mine A Double..
Which is better, a separate DAC and AMP or a combined one. Does the (I assume) more direct path an inbuilt DAC takes make for a better quality sound, as opposed to having the two linked by audio connects. I know it is subjective but what is the best DAC, I am most impressed with the way the...- stvn758

Optical Inputs on Desktop Amp.
Is it possible to have two optical inputs rather than the co-ax/optical it seems to have. Is that something you can alter in the workshop? Thanks.- stvn758
