AKG Q460 or Sony MDR-ZX600? (same price)

Are there any other headphones I should consider around $80-100? Preferably white and portable.

AKG Q460 or Sony MDR-ZX600? (same price)

Thank you so much for your opinion. I appreciate it.   Yeah, the AKG seems like an overall better deal. It's just that a lot of people seem to have some issues with them, while no one seems to complain about the Sony. Then again, considering the price, I'm sure the AKG will produce better...

Sorry for the bump, but I'm gonna buy one of these headphones as a Christmas present, so I need input asap. :)

AKG Q460 or Sony MDR-ZX600? (same price)

I found a great deal on AKG Q460, over 50% discount, but I've read some mixed reviews about them. I like the design of the Sony better, and they look more comfortable, but sound quality is more important. I would highly appreciate any thoughts on the two headphone models. Will be used with...

Do I have sensitive ears? (Grado SR-225 related)

Ok, I've now used the flats for a couple of weeks, and they've had a positive effect on the 225's. They take away some detail and sound stage, but they add bass and damp the treble. So in other words: The harshness is almost gone and the sound is more laid back. I do experience a little...

Do I have sensitive ears? (Grado SR-225 related)

Hey, what's with the TOOL bashing?! rds: Even though I was offended by your post, it made me laugh. It was Ænima, and I think it sounds prettty darn good, both the production and the music, but let's not turn this into a TOOL discussion. I really appreciate all your replies and...

Do I have sensitive ears? (Grado SR-225 related)

I bought a pair of used 225's a month ago, and I've been listening to them everyday since. My first impression was very positive. I heard detals I've never heard before, the solid midrange made rock really alive, but sadly, after a while, the somewhat harsh and analytical sound of the 225's...

Need help setting up a bedside table system with Grado SR-225 as a starting point

Thanks for the tip, ssportclay. The SA8001 is not out yet in Europe, but the SA7001 is definitely interesting, especially since it has a dedicated headphone amp. It's a hot condender for sure, and could very well be the best and easiest sollution for my bedside set up.

Need help setting up a bedside table system with Grado SR-225 as a starting point

Thanks for the advice, panda, but that would be too much of a hassle for me, and I don't think I'd be able to get those components for 1k.

Need help setting up a bedside table system with Grado SR-225 as a starting point

They're used, so I'm pretty sure they're burned in. I've used dark sounding headphones and IE's like Koss and Sennheiser in the past, so I think it takes some time getting used to the Grado sound. Having said that, I love the 225's so far. I listened to some alto sax music today, and it sounded...

Need help setting up a bedside table system with Grado SR-225 as a starting point

Thanks for your reply, jellojoe. I coincidently got the 225's today, and I've been using a Denon stereosystem to drive them, and my first impression is very positive. I can hear details on my CD's that I haven't heard before. I've tried everything from Joni Mitchell to hardcore, and the...

Need help setting up a bedside table system with Grado SR-225 as a starting point

The 225's haven't arrived yet, but they should be here soon, so I'll have to start buying components asap. There are especially two subject I'd like some advice on: 1. Midrange CD player vs. budget CD player with external DAC 2. Headphone amp vs. stereo amp I need a new CD player and...

Just bought a pair of used SR-225, modded by headcoverage.com - I need some pointers.

Thanks for the tip, Fud. The pads are supposed to be in mint condition, so I'm certain a good wash will do.

Just bought a pair of used SR-225, modded by headcoverage.com - I need some pointers.

The SR-225's are a little over one year old, and they have wood cups and lambskin headband from headcoverage.com. Before they arrive, I would like some pointers on maintenance. Should I buy new (different) pads, or should I just wash the stock pads? And if I'm going to wash them, what should...

Headphones (around $150) for listening to alternative rock?

I've narrowed it down to the following models: Alessandro MS-1 Sennheiser HD595 Denon AH-D2000 Goldring DR150 I know there's quite a price difference between the Denon and the other models, but the most important thing for me is that the headphones I buy match my taste in music and...

    px100 vs portapro's?

PX100: Very comfortable, great design, pleasent neutral sound. PP: Better low bass extension, too much maybe, but if you like hardhitting bass for little money, these are the ones to buy. I soundwise prefer the Porta Pro's, but overall, the Senn's is a better buy IMO.

Headphones (around $150) for listening to alternative rock?

Thanks for your answers, guys. I'll be primarily using the headphones with my trusty Sony Discman on the bedside table, and sometimes with my PSP. I might consider buying an amp in the future, but they should be easy to drive.

Headphones (around $150) for listening to alternative rock?

Hi fellow music lovers! I'm sorry for making yet another recommendation thread, but I'm about to buy my first pair of mid/high-end headphones and I'm struggling. I listen mainly to alternative rock in all shapes and colors. Hardcore bands like Converge, The Dillinger Escape Plan and Bad...
