Use non-specified tubes at your own risk. In particular, I believe that 6sn7 tubes are outside the specs of this amp. No idea if power supply upgrade would address that or not. Cavalli posts on some forums and maybe here (username runeeight IIRC). Perhaps there is a post from him that addresses...

That's a bummer. But I will say that in all of my experience iFi support has been top notch and I have heard many examples of them going above and beyond to make sure the customer is happy.

Since I grab them at night when I can't see the color, I tie a little knot in the cable near the barrel of the right one so I can tell by feel.

I only have limited exposure to Solaris from a share. It is certainly bigger than any Andro, and I believe that they are heavier than my Andro S, but not 100% sure...

Based on that page views link (https://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/innerfidelity.com and I'd love to know more if someone here is a subscriber), I think that sinking ship might be a better analogy.

I was especially mortified by the Chord Poly warmed over press release. No mention of the major dissatisfaction of Poly owners about the product being a glitchy not ready for prime time mess.

At this level of iFi gear, I'd actually be surprised if another power supply is going to get you too much. ALSO: Be warned that adding a power supply from another manufacturer in most cases will invalidate your warranty. Proceed with caution!!! @iFi will also most likely weigh in on this one...

As mentioned many times in this thread: get something with an output impedance of 1 to 2 ohms. But no direct experience with iBasso and Andros.

Not sure about impedance changes. But in general I've found HiFiMan planets (HE560 and HE5LE) to respond well to power.

And then there are the Andros. There is a reason that the word "special" is used with them so often.

In past years Headfiers have organized a pizza lunch on the Saturday of AXPONA, if that is anything to go by. I'm sure buzz will pick up here as the show gets closer.

Shure 846s will have rolled off highs that you won't likely find on Campfire IEMs. Bass on the 846 was great, but could never get the treble right using stock or DIY filters. I'd say take a look at the reviews of the Campfire in your price range and those descriptions should help you decide on...

How much time did the Solaris have on them? Many reports suggest that burn-in is essential. Of course you may still prefer Andros to burned in Solaris...

This is a 400+ page thread. So you'll find the answers you are looking for by using the search function. Both are ecxcellent. There is no wrong choice here. If slightly recessed mids bother you, get the S. If you like a smidge more treble emphasis get the original. Both are great.

Only difference is the mids driver. Makes the mids a bit more prominent. Some found the mids a bit recessed in the original Andro, though was never a dealbreaker for me. Subjectively, the more prominent mids make the S seem to have less treble. Even though the driver for the highs remains the same.

ZMF is very forthright about their pricing and that they strive for a variety of sounds to suit varying preferences of buyers. That excellent new driver on the Verite isn't cheap. From my discussions at the meet, seemed like the majority preferred the Verite. The Aeolous is a special headphone...

How many hours did you put on them? I found the bass to improve significantly over time. Also, I assume you have read on this thread the importance of having a source with output impedance of around 1 or 2 ohms. Anything above that and bass response is reduced.

I've got a lot of campfire to bring too: Atlas, Vega, Andro, Andro S, Comet.

This is a 417 page thread. Lots of recs throughout. Key is finding something low noise with approx 1 to 2 ohm output impedance. Lower than that tilts FR to bass. Higher tilts it to treble.
