Skylab, Have you tried putting a soldering iron to the screws before trying to unscrew them? Heating the screws might allow you to break them loose.

My MPX3's transformer is warm, but definitely not what I'd call "hot", after playing for several hours. I can keep the back of my hand on the cover as long as I like. (the back of the hand is much more sensitive to temerature than the palm-side) Mine is 110V. Thank you, Kevin, for explaining...

I have an MPX3 SLAM that I bought used in May last year (2008). I'll try and find out what the production date was.

Frankly, I don't have a lot of hours on my set up. Earl's email replies date from 5/28/08, and I probably have 2hr/week on the MPX3 SLAM since then, so to be safe, call it 80hr with the 6BL7GTA's mostly driven by the 2c51. No problems at all.

I, too, only regret not changing my source sooner. I did a lot of reading and I think I bought correctly the first time for my HP and amp. Then again, I had some fine advice from Grado2fan, Skylab, and SACD-Lover to name a few. Search out their posts and you'll probably spend your money...
