I applied the TII 3.7 firmware from the original last week. I also use a Hermes DDC from 2021 and use TII clock out. With a small search online for the correct pin out settings again on the DAC and following the disable clock out instructions first on the Hermes I had everything updated in one...

@Arniesb You are 100% on the money about that potential DAC chip and GS-X Mk2 combination...I think 'aggressive' nails it with too much leading edge HF energy. Would have made that a complete non starter for me. An R2R DAC feels like an almost mandatory recommendation to get long-term pleasing...

May I ask if anyone has direct experience of comparing the Bliss with a GS-X Mk 2? I put an R2R through it to D8000 Pros, which is a pleasing combination. I’m curious if the Bliss is considered a clear step up from the Headamp from those that are familiar with both? Appreciate this is a niche...

Could be...or maybe there's just enough transposable firmware routines in the DAC FPGA that it's relatively modest work to port to the DDC FPGA to keep an extended Denafrips customer base happy for a small additional bit of effort. I would however be very interested in seeing updated DDC models...

I do not believe so, the main material difference between the two other than aesthetics and build finesse is the clock. If you use clock out - as I do with my TII and Hermes - i suspect you can save your money from a Gaia upgrade. I believe Alvin at Vinshine has expressed something similar also…
