Cable: Does 6.3mm SE sound better than 4.4mm balanced
A 6.3mm plug does not normally sound better than a 4.4mm plug. Might be a issue with the new cable or a defect in the ifi diablo idsd's balanced headphone jack. Make sure the 4.4mm is plugged in all the way. -
I'm looking for some desktop DAC / AMP or AV Receiver for speakers and headphones.
Galeonero, I would say not to get an A/V receiver, unless your going to get speakers to go with it. Some USB sound cards might give you 5.1 (or 7.1?) headphone surround sound (Creative?). You need to research on what USB sound cards offer headphone surround sound, with your model of Playstation.- Tacoboy

I'm looking for some desktop DAC / AMP or AV Receiver for speakers and headphones.
It's DAC function is decent, which fine for gaming and decent for TV. But the Fulla and K5 Pro offer better SNR (audio quality).- Tacoboy

I'm looking for some desktop DAC / AMP or AV Receiver for speakers and headphones.
If your generally ok listening to audio in stereo (2.0), then maybe running optical from the TV and USB, from the Play Station, into a DAC/headphone amplifier, that comes with USB, optical (& coaxial) input. A Schiit Fulla 4 comes with optical & USB inputs. And the FiiO K5 Pro, but guessing you...- Tacoboy

Will a fiio K5 power HD 6XX?
Soundmagic HP200 headphones, with the Schiit Fulla 4 DAC/amp, will give you good sound, for less cash. For the 300-Ohm Sennheiser/Massdrop HD6XX headphones, I would be more likely to spend more cash, for a tube headphone amplifier, to bring out the best, in the HD6XX. Do you use the Scarlett 2i2...- Tacoboy

Another DT770 alternative thread
If you have access to a soldering iron, you can make your own replacement cable. Quad-core microphone cable (Mogami & Canare brands?) seems be the popular replacement cable, for use with making custom headphone cables. And there are some nice options for the headphone plug...- Tacoboy

Another DT770 alternative thread
The 470-Ohm might be correct, but I'm not the expert on the headphone jacks on receivers (A/V receiver, stereo amplifier, etc). I'm guessing receiver manufacturers do not publish/share a lot of the technical details of the headphone jack, because there is nothing there to brag about. If the...- Tacoboy

Looking for a new soundcard for my computer, tips/help?
Quote: Right now the Titanium HD is around $35-$40 less the the Essence STX. I like the Asus over Creative Labs because I find the Asus software is simpler to use, install and driver repairs are easier. You should be able to hook up 5.1 speakers, you would use the digital out from the...- Tacoboy

New here, and not very knowledge able in audio. Looking for new headphones :)
I own the AD700s and I do like them for easy relaxing long term listening, but really bass light, and being open means you hear everything around you. Cheap way to go is the Asus Xonar DG and the Superlux HD-668B The Xonar DG has the headphone amp. and has Dolby Headphone 5.1 So you can...- Tacoboy

Connect amp to computer soundcard?
Quote: I just used the Titanium HD as the lowest cost (of the higher end) sound cards with built in headphone amp. as an example. I just bought a used Essence STX last week, already upgraded the 2 headphone op-amps from 2114D to LME49860NA. (I'm also looking at even upgrading to the...- Tacoboy

Connect amp to computer soundcard?
Quote: The Xonar DG headphone amplifier is really just an extra chip built in to the card, so the card has the same kind of mini stereo jacks (3.5mm) as on the Xtreme Music. So you will plug in your headphones just like you do on the Xtreme Music. The Asus Xonar DG is the only low cost...- Tacoboy

Top headphones for computer gaming under $40?
Quote: I'm sure he was referring to the Audio Technica ATH-AD500. At the price range you have, you not going to get great all around headphones. I do not believe the Superlux HD-668Bs would clamp hard enough to hurt your glasses.- Tacoboy

Filling a Specific Headphone Need
Quote: Sorry the HD-668Bs did not work out, personally I find the clamp just right. Some people add Velour pads to the HD-668B, I'm assuming it makes for a softer feel. AKG K240, K241 Velour replacement pads will work on the HD-668B.- Tacoboy
