The Official Sony TA-ZH1ES Hi-Res Headphone Amplifier (Live From IFA 2016)

True, the LCD-3’s aren’t the lightest headphones around, but they are far from uncomfortable. The lambskin material really cushions your head and its weight is well distributed. I often wear mine for 2-3 hours at a time with no issues at all. As for how it looks, well, I guess it’s a matter of...

The Official Sony TA-ZH1ES Hi-Res Headphone Amplifier (Live From IFA 2016)

As long as you’re thinking of spending this amount of $$$$ on headphones, I’d also consider the Audeze line. I’ve got my TA paired with Audeze LCD-3’s, and it’s quite a marvelous sound. (From what I’ve read, I kind of suspect that the Sony ‘phones would sound more like the LCD-3’s than the...

Absolutely. I refer you to post #1395 of this thread, where I answered this very question from another poster. My feelings haven't changed since then!

Did you install the appropriate driver? The Sony requires a driver if connected to a PC. (Mine’s connected to a Mac, so no driver is necessary.)

The Official Sony TA-ZH1ES Hi-Res Headphone Amplifier (Live From IFA 2016)

I’ve had the unit for just over 2 weeks now, and I still love it. As others have said here, its sound signature is very warm and analog-like. For me it excels in that elusive quality known as “PRaT” (Pace, Rhythm, and Timing). Until I got the Sony, I’ve always thought that PRaT was another one...

Never mind—I found it by Googling “ta-zh1es firmware”. Looks pretty straightforward.

No—I wasn’t aware that I could. Is this in the manual? If not, how can I do it? Thanks.

The Official Sony TA-ZH1ES Hi-Res Headphone Amplifier (Live From IFA 2016)

Absolutely. It really sounds gorgeous. Prior to the Sony I had used much smaller, more portable amps (Mojo, Micro iDSD, Hifi M8), all of which actually drove the LCD-3’s satisfactorily (I listen to mainly classical orchestral music), but there’s now a much greater sense of “ease”, unrestricted...

I just got this beautiful amp/DAC myself and noticed the same thing. Weird that there’s no mention of it in the manual and that it doesn’t switch off when you set DSEE HX to ‘off’. Oh well...it still sounds mighty fine.

Got my LX yesterday  and listened for about 1.5 hours last night.  I was blown away.  My 44.1k files sounded great, my 88.2k and 96k files sounded fabulous, and my 176.4k and 192k files sounded incredible.  This is all with the default settings.  There's definitely more-than-adequate power for...

Got my e-mail w/tracking number from Stacie earlier today (Wednesday).   According to the FedEx site, my M8 (LX) should arrive on Tuesday.  Thanks, Stacie and Michael!!!

So if you ran the analog output from the M8 into an external amp (as I would do into my audio system), would you set the volume control to the max?  That's what I do with my DACport, but would the output level be perhaps too high from the M8?

Quote:   Just to be sure, the M8 should be significantly more powerful than the DACport, right?  That's what I'm using now with my LCD-3's (where I typically have the volume setting between 2:00 and 3:00).  I'm already taking it for granted that the M8 will sound better than the DACport.

I now remember that I had changed my pre-order to an LX version (which doesn't have an iDevice input), so I'd be unaffected by the problem, correct?  If that's the case, then I'd be willing to have my M8 shipped now (or whenever it's ready).

Has anyone here received an e-mail confirming that their M8s were on the way?  (I haven't yet.)  I prepaid on October 23, so I think I'm in the first batch.   Since I intend to use the M8 only with my MacBook Pro and not with an iDevice, the 16/48 shouldn't apply to me, right?  I'm still...

Quote:   I seem to be the only one who's going to be using the M8 exclusively with my MacBook Pro and LCD-3's.  (Although I have 2 iPhones and an iPad, I don't use them for music listening.)  The M8 will be a replacement for my old and trusty DACport, which still sounds great, but I'm...

    The Centrance HiFi M8 thread

I'm expecting the M8 to sound at least as good as my DACport and have more than enough power/headroom to drive my LCD-3's.  (I'm finding the DACport merely adequate in this regard.)  Hopefully I'll have no worries at all.  (Fingers crossed!)

I'm in no rush, either--I'd rather Michael & Co. take their time and get it right than rush it out prematurely.  In the meantime, my DACport will suffice.

    The Centrance HiFi M8 thread

Quote:   I just got the LCD-3 () and am currently using them with a DACport, which just seems barely adequate.  I believe Audeze conservatively recommends that they be driven by an amp of at least a couple of watts, which I don't think the DACport provides.  I'm really hoping that the...

    The Centrance HiFi M8 thread

OK--Just got my pre-order info from Stacie and have a simple question:  when we're asked to specify our choice of outputs ([2 combo XLRs] or [4-pin XLR and 1/4"]) and choice of inputs ([HiFi-M8 with USB and iDevice inputs] or [HiFi-M8 LX with USB and S/PDIF inputs]) does this mean that CEntrance...
