ATH-A1000X and A2000X?
Do you have plans to offer the latest Audio Technica models when they come out in December? (Specifically the A2000X.) I have read a little about the A2000X, and I hope it will be available for sale in North America. Thanks,- drummerboy47

How did you turn into an Audiophile?
Probably when I was 8 or 9 and got my first boombox - which, of course, I called a ghettoblaster. It was pathetically small (some Citizen model), and at the time sounded best to me with the tone cranked all the way to "high." OK, so I'm dating myself. A year or so later I also discovered that...- drummerboy47

PS3 + Blu-Ray + Desktop Portable = Uncompressed Sound!
I'm very pleased to discover that I can listen to uncompressed stereo (2.0) sound using my PS3, a Blu-Ray with uncompressed/DTS-MA/TruHD audio, and a 2007 Desktop Portable amp. I found this out when I brought my PS3 upstairs to my bedroom to watch a movie. (I just had my wisdom teeth out, and...- drummerboy47

NEW iPOD 7G COMING SOON...
Three cheers for digital out! One can only hope. I'm under the impression that current iPods are capable of this, but there are only a handful of devices (the Wadia, and that other really expensive one I forget the name of) that take advantage of it. Where is the portable solution? A dock...- drummerboy47

iPhone 3G revealed: "Improved Audio...flush headphone jack...$199 for 8GB"
A few thoughts and comparisons: Comparing my iPhone 3G's headphone jack to line out: The line out sounds noticeably better. It sounds fuller, with more extended, accurate treble. There could be more; this is simply a first impression of a quick A/B. I used Apple's 3G Dock and a cheap mini...- drummerboy47

Marantz CD5001 Giveaway - And the Winner is?
I want a free CDP! I would make SUCH good use of this CDP!!! It would PERFECTLY match my Marantz SR7002! Not to mention it would replace my obsolete and dying Sony CDP-195, and the Panasonic DVD player I currently use for CD's. I have a 2007 HeadRoom Desktop Portable Amp and a pair of...- drummerboy47

Should I get SE530s?
All good replies so far! Keep in mind that their treble response isn't ideal. It's rolled off after 16kHz (balanced armature characteristic). They also suffer from a huge dip in the frequency response curve around 12-13kHz (check out HeadRoom's website). This last point is personally my...- drummerboy47

What would you spend for your perfect setup.
I chose $50-250k. I wouldn't even know how to spend more than that on a single system. I'm at $10k right now with my current HT setup. I'm quite content with the sound. I haven't heard a lot of top-end gear, but I'm sure sound gets significantly better than my Marantz/Paradigm combo. My...- drummerboy47

W1000 + Amp/Dac OR unamped AD2000?
Quote: I would say to get a dac/amp with either can as it will allow the headphone to sound as good as it was meant to. What is your price limit? Good line of thinking here. Is this going to be a one-time purchase, or will you be spending more as time goes on? You might want to get...- drummerboy47

What is the best portable Amp available?
I'm enjoying my desktop portable right now Quote: Sound is the only concern I've got no other amps to compare it to. It sounds fabulous to me. I just wanted to mention that I'm also finding it to be very versatile. I use 2 of the 3 digital inputs regularly (USB and optical) and I...- drummerboy47

First step to High-end cans for 500$ ?
I'm going to go out on a bit of a limb and recommend Audio Technica's ATH-W5000 to you. I'm incredibly happy with mine. They're a bit more than what you want to pay (I've seen many for around $650 used, or slightly less). Quote: what I look for to achieve in "step one" is to have...- drummerboy47
