No budget headphones for classical
Another question worth asking is where are you going to use them? On the go or at home in a quiet environment?- GimliLongBow

Anyone have a rockboxed sansa e2xx?
I have a Sansa e260R with Rockbox on it and it works well. Not only does is it quite capable, but there are some great themes out there that make it look really polished. I also think it sounds slightly better, and the audio options is icing on the cake. I might also recommend the digibuild...- GimliLongBow

New Rio Carbon Firmware..."The Developer's Cut"
I have a Carbon with the 3.04 firmware and it seems to work just fine in MSC mode on Vista. I just deleted and copy/pasted some music onto it and they showed up just fine. However, I seem to remember having bugs in the past, but now things are fine (oddly enough). That may have been in trying...- GimliLongBow

Latest Zune software NOT downloading artwork/ID3 tags for CD's when ripping ???
Oddly enough, it sounds like there is a problem with WMP11 and the Zune software connecting to the Internet. For WMP11, make sure it isn't in offline mode by pressing Alt+F, then making sure Work Offline is unchecked. I am not sure, but that might be messing up the Zune software also.- GimliLongBow

album art on sony 818 +wmp11 q's
To set conversion options in WMP 11, first plug it in and load up WMP11. Next, click on the down arrow below the Sync button, select the device name, then choose Advanced Options. This should bring up a dialog with a tab named Quality. Make sure it is set to Select quality level automatically...- GimliLongBow

Zune software Question
First click on the Settings button on the top right. Next, on the top left, select Device. This should bring you to the Sync Options page. Simply select "Let me choose my music" and that will disable autosync. There you go!- GimliLongBow

How to convert movies/video to watch on IPOD?
If you don't have Nero, Handbrake + DVD43 is an excellent (and free) combination. Using the two, there is no need to use DVD Decrypter and I don't think it slows down Handbrake any.- GimliLongBow

Foobar 2000 pre-configured?
I have played around with foobar2000 and really liked the config that is hosted on fooblog2000.com. There are a few others that use the same skin method, but FofR is definitely the flashiest.- GimliLongBow

Who else ordered Xtrememac FS1 earphones from buy.com and got a Creative Zen instead?
Last time I checked, the Zen Vision:M was going on eBay for over $100 and Buy.com recently sold them for $100 and $110, so I'd say you got a pretty good deal.- GimliLongBow

Help finding nice <$100 mp3 player w FM and playlist shuffle
Shucks. If you could do an online purchase, you might want to checkout Sellout.Woot.com. They are running Creative Zen V Plus 4gb for $45. As for a B&M store, my suggestion would be the Sansa Clip. I haven't used one, but I hear the sound quality is excellent. Also, I have seen them in...- GimliLongBow

Recommend me an ipod skin
I third the Best Skins Ever recommendation. I am not an iPod user, but I recently got a BSE film for my Zune and it is absolutely great. There are some tiny visible air bubbles, but those are slowly disappearing. And for ~$7, you can get two in case you aren't happy with the first application.- GimliLongBow

Vista Bug? No thumbnail view
There should be a View option called Large or Extra Large Icons. Either one will display thumbnails. Even the Medium Icons setting will work, but Large looks better.- GimliLongBow

New Zune @ Newegg - $99.99
Yep. That remains the problem: brown. Still can't get warmed up to it, even at the same price for new vs my Woot! refurb. I do wonder how Microsoft is going to market these things at $200 after the new Zunes come out. If there are no hardware changes or a price drop across the board, I don't...- GimliLongBow

WOOT alert: $99 Zunes
Hmm, a Woot-Off? I missed it. Still, I am rather hoping that they will stop selling Zunes sometime soon. After all, I think they said they sold ~39,000 before the $79 brown Zune sellout. Scary.- GimliLongBow

Zune on Woot! for $99.99sss
Mine made it here today (I ordered on Monday). I received no shipping notice, but the AltRef tracking worked just fine. Very nice. I can't say I am in love with the software, but it works. The Zune looks like new, and everything was in the box. I am liking it quite a lot so far. Now I can...- GimliLongBow

Very confused about Zune 80 battery life...
On ZuneInsider.net, they did some pre-production testing and got the result of up to 30 hours for the Zune 80. Most likely the Zune 80 will get between 20 and 30, either one being a substantial upgrade from the Zune 30.- GimliLongBow
