    Denon AH-D1000 vs Denon AH-D1001??

I'm in the same boat as you; just bought the D1000s and was wondering about the differences. Well, comparing the two pdfs on their site (D1001 pdf was added a few days ago): D1000 D1001 According to the specs, they are identical. The difference is that the D1001 comes packaged with a...

    PX100 vs. PX 200

I always found the PX200s sound tinny when you compare them to the PX100s. But I agree with hempcamp, I don't think you can find a better closed headphone for SQ AND portability. You can fold these things up to the size of your fist. Another thing that some people might not like is that it...

REVIEW: 5 sub-$150 sealed headphone compared

Is an amp required for the D1000s? Or do they perform decently enough unamped?

    IEMs for ~$75 (Canada) - j-Jays, SE110, Super.fi 3, others?

I'm looking for a good cheap (~$75) IEM that's available to Canadians. Will be used for commuting/studying/workouts listening to hip-hop, rock, classical, jazz. It obviously must sound pretty good but must not need an amp to do so and also must be durable. Comfort varies from person to person...

Need a good CHEAP camera (preferrably with a macro mode)

Canon A570IS, going for ~$180 here in Canada. I've had mine for 6 months now, great value and performance.

Best place to get a pair of Grado SR80's that ship to canada

Only online store I know of that carries Grados in Canada: Grado SR80 Headphones Most stores I've seen here in Canada sell Grados at a premium. They're usually $50-$75 more expensive than in the U.S. So either take the hit or you could buy from a U.S. store but expect to pay duty fees.

    Tragedy Strikes - RIP Sennheisers

You're in luck because in my experience sennheiser has been an amazing company to deal with when it comes to broken headphones. A couple years ago, when my PX100s broke, I brought them (along with receipt) to the local office here in Montreal and they replaced it for free under warranty. I...

    Ubuntu 7.10 - runs slow - help

Well, you might not have enough memory. I checked my processes and with compiz on, firefox (5 tabs) and a few taskbar apps, I'm already using ~500MB memory. Xubuntu would probably run a lot smoother on your PC, give the LiveCD a try first though because XFCE might not be to your tastes.

    Ubuntu 7.10 - runs slow - help

Can you be more specific when you say it runs slow? Do you have a Video Card? Did you partition a swap drive on install?

XP or Vista Basic or Vista Business for fast operation of basic functions

Uh, there's a reason why I said you'll hardly notice a difference in performance. I have almost the exact same specs as you: 1.73 C2D 120GB HD 1 GB RAM Intel GMA950 I'm dual-booting Ubuntu/Vista, and Vista is not THAT much slower than Ubuntu. They both have their 3d UI on (Compiz/Aero)...

XP or Vista Basic or Vista Business for fast operation of basic functions

Well, Vista with Aero will run slower than XP on your machine. Having said that, I don't think you'll notice the difference in performance if all you're doing is basic stuff. If you already setup Vista the way you like it, why not just stick with it.

    Why do people use Windows?

Simple, because many third-party apps and games are windows-only. Try running CAD or Photoshop software on linux or any newly released PC game. It doesn't work.

    Linux-fi

Have used Fedora, SuSE and Gentoo in the past until I found Ubuntu. Quit Fedora and SuSE because of RPM dependency hell. Gentoo was great but I spent too much time fiddling with it. Then I tried Breezy on a whim (I was slightly pessimistic) and stuck with it ever since. I find it really great...

    Disapointed after shure se530pth purchase

My SE530s straight out of my laptop don't sound bright at all. I've heard that the DT770s are bass-heavy. Maybe you need a bit more time to get used to the SE530s. And even though SE530s have a warm sound for IEMs, I don't think you'll be able to match the boominess of a non-IEM phone. If...

ASUS played a dirty, dirty trick on Palm (and CONSUMERS!)

Well reviews have been generally positive since it came out. You can't really compare it to the Foleo anyway. The Foleo has XScale processor while the EeePC has Celeron which makes it a true subnotebook. EeePC also comes with a SSD drive and camera. You couldn't get a subnotebook like this for...

    Which laptop would you recommend?

Seconded for student discounts, you can get really good deals. But unless you REALLY need a mac, I wouldn't recommend it for low-mid budget. You can always get a PC laptop of equivalent specs at a cheaper price. If you can't buy using student discounts, you should wait for a sale on laptops...

    Google phone announcement... thoughts?

It's just one more step for Google's plan for world domination. Just imagine it, they will control a unified software interface across multiple cell phone models. My guess is they will make it really easy to google for directions, restaurants, movie bus and train schedules, etc. and all tailored...
