You could go with the D2000s now and then upgrade the cable later. At stock they are already a very good headphone, and with a cable upgrade they can sound significantly better. So, you'll have great sound and something to look forward to.

I do not have any exact numbers but very small indeed. Most people in my experience have no clue about sound quality. Sometimes, I envy them. Even if you saw me in public, I do not use high-grade stuff (iPod and Apple IEMs); also I rarely ever show people my setup.

I have the Denon D2000s (sig) and I use them for 90% Dance&DJ/Trance/Electronic. They're incredible - beautiful vocals, decent highs, reasonably fast, and of course the bass is excellent - a little bloated, but I personally prefer that. As noted, make sure you get a good amp.

I had both the bowls and comfies for my MS-1s; I preferred the bowls. The sound was a bit clearer/crisper and I found them to be more comfortable since they didn't clamp as much. I still couldn't wear them for more than 45 minutes though.

For me, it was the HD280. I sent those back after a week of torture. They were like a clamp, were hot, had no bass impact, and I plain didn't like them.
