need quick test with Buffalo DAC
running SPDIF coax (doesn't really matter) to the Buffalo DAC with IVY (v1.0), when playing, pull out the SPDIF. I'm interested in the DC offset. Does it zero itself with a loss of signal or is there DC? I noticed a problem with my computer motherboard feeding SPDIF to the Buffalo DAC, that...- holland

Par Metal cases
Has anyone been able to get any recently? He no longer sells them on e-bay, and I've been trying to buy a few cases to no avail for a few weeks. He sent me a price, but I tried to get in touch with him to order, and no responses. Any tricks to this?- holland

AKG K271 Pads on K240 Sextett
Are these pads the same? Are the part numbers the same? My Sextett pads aren't bad a bit aged but not in horrible condition and still compresses well. When I put the K271 pleather pads on, the bass became quite emphasized, almost boomy.- holland

Which scope?
What's a recommended scope that has a good supply of parts and aftermarket support for parts/calibration, etc.? It doesn't have to be super cheap and it doesn't have to be expensive. Anywhere in the $200-$400 range is fine with me. I just don't want to pick one up and find that parts are...- holland

I/V opamp recommendation
I bought a USB DAC 301 and will be changing out the opamps for the I/V and voltage followers. I'm thinking of the following chips, needs to be SOIC-8. LM6172 AD8066 (very close to the voltage I will run, +-12V, so may not be a good idea). LM4562 (just cause I don't have to order any)...- holland

Microshar uAmp107 mods for gain and pop
Gain too high (hisssss)? Turn on pop annoying? Easy fix. First, I replaced the batteries from 2 2600mAh AA to 3 800mAh AAA, to get the voltage up a bit (not related to title) from 2x1.2 to 3x1.2. Even with that change, I've been running the amp in unattended mode since Sunday afternoon...- holland

SMD resistor colors?
I've got some SMD resistors and some of them are sky blue with black lettering. All the other ones I've used have been black with white lettering. Does anyone know what the color signifies? Is it tolerance, wattage, something else? Thanks.- holland

uAmp107B mods help
I've got a microshar uAmp107B and it runs off 2 1.2V AA NIMH batteries. Here are the things I'm going to change. - I want to change that to 4 1.2V NIMH AAA batteries, the datasheet seems to indicate better specs at 5V and I don't care about battery life. If it goes from 200 hours to 80hours...- holland

CK2III power cables
I'm putting a BOM together and am thinking of doing an external power supply. I'm looking for some connectors that would work well, and would not be confusing. I found one, but I haven't heard back from the manufacturer about where to buy and cost and other available options...- holland

Microshar uAMP107B
Just got it tonight. Holy crap is the gain on this thing high! Way way high. I just read the uAmp page, default gain is 19dB. That's what's causing all the hissing even on headphones that don't normally hiss (my Beyer DT660s hiss), that's a gain of 9. It also makes the cellphone interference...- holland
