    Replacement cable for Etymotic ER-4P

Greetings!   I have had my Etymotics for something like 4 years now, and they have always served me well. By now, however, the cable is breaking in several places, and I have resorted to sticky tape to hold the cable so I can still listen to music.   So, what would be the easiest way to...

    Successor for Ety ER-4P

Duggeh, you know what? You're perfectly right. Instead of stepping sideways, I'll wait a bit longer, and then look again. Buying cans in the same price class does not really get me anything. I'll wait a few months and then look again what I can afford.

    Successor for Ety ER-4P

weibby: Do you mean the Westone 2? I can't find much information on these... The ATHs seem a nice fit, however I wonder if they differ sufficiently from the Etys... I would definitely like something less analytical now, and I don't know if the ATHs are what can be described as "fun".

    Successor for Ety ER-4P

Unfortunately, here in europe, the ATH-CK10 is prohibitively expensive (on the order of 400€). Seems like a very good tip, though...

    Successor for Ety ER-4P

Greetings! Since I bought my Etys 2.5 years ago, I haven't visited this forum. Now, the Etys are falling apart and beginning to bore me. So, I am searching for a suitable in-ear successor. They will be used unamped from my iPod. I value great isolation (probably spoiled by the Etys) and...

1 million dollars for proof that expensive cables are better

Title says it all: A guy offers 1 million dollars for anyone who can prove that the "Pear Anjou" speaker cables do actually sound better than "Monster cables". I am really anxious about the outcome. But probably this will end in somewhat like: "Your proof sucks. You suck." or something similar...

Just Ordered Shure Black Foam Sleeves

Yeah, I liked the idea of the triflanges too. But I found them uncomfortable as hell at the beginning (first day). I have now somewhat adjusted to the triflanges, but I still ordered them... With the strong Euro at the moment, it's not a big loss anyway^^. And I'm just waiting to try out the...

Just Ordered Shure Black Foam Sleeves

I think the question hasn't been answered yet, although someone asked, so I ask again: Do the black foam tips fit the Ety 4P/S? Because I am looking for something more comfortable to replace my triflanges....

Do you believe HDD SMART report?

There's not much to believe. S.M.A.R.T itself is just a monitoring system for hard drives, with no analysis. Since the data is interpreted differently from manufacturer to manufacturer, you need some sort of database with the thresholds (on Linux see the manpage of smartctl for an explanation)...

I _think_ that I have the Sennheiser CX300 (no idea if S or B), and I am (was) pretty satisfied with them for mobile listening.

Theoretical questions -- IEM treble rolloff

I spent some time at www.headphones.com yesterday looking at the frequency response charts of some headphones (here). looked at several charts (HD650, HD595, Ultimate Ears Super Fi...), and it struck me that the response of the open headphones almost always extended over a broader range of...

    www.glassjaraudio.com -- SOHA Kit 0,1 or 2?

I am contemplating buying a SOHA kit from Jeff Rossel's page glassjaraudio.com. He has kits with sever upgrade 'stages', and I was wondering which one offers the best value for money. Currently, I'm thinking "What the heck, I'll get the 2", but maybe there is a difference, and I could easier...

    iPod to Trekstor Vibez downgrade

Yes, I have installed rockbox, and I am astounded by its high quality (of the software, that is). However, Rockbox guzzles battery like there's no tomorrow. After one day of listening (about 10 hours), I already have to recharge it, compared to more than 15 hours with the original firmware...

    Electronics retailer serving Europe

Actually, Farnell sounds quite good, since they have a 12% rebate for students (which I am). However, their search is crap, and makes it a chore to look for anything. @Daroid Thanks, I'll check these out. @Ferrari I already looked at purchasing the kit, but I wondered if I could get it cheaper...

    Electronics retailer serving Europe

As the title says, I am searching for a electronics retailer that ships to Europe FOR A DECENT SHIPPING FEE! No 20$ Farnell shipping or something like that. iPod to Trekstor Vibez downgrade

Title says it all: I currently have a 5.5G 60 GB iPod Video. However, there are some things that bug me: No flac support with normal firmware, less-than-stellar SQ, pretty big and difficult to fill (syncing with the library is a constant PITA for me). So I am looking at an up-(down?)grade of my...

    Soundcard or DAC with amp?

Thanks for all the replies. So, what I am going to do is get some kits: The alien DAC and perhaps the SOHA from Glassjaraudio. This is still in my budget and doesn't sound too bad I think. Maybe I can get a spare laptop from somewhere to do the playing, otherwise it's my ipod. I think that will...

Yet another cMoy thread -- Grounding issues?

Thanks for trying to help. Now: 1) No enclosure yet. I have one here, but I cant install the jacks, the pot and the switch because there isn't enough room. 2) I don't know, except I know that it's not conductive. 3) Batteries 4) Batteries 5) I think that would be metal jacks.

Yet another cMoy thread -- Grounding issues?

Greetings. As I have just purchased Senn HD595 cans, I now need an amp. I have started (and almost finished) the cMoy, but I still have some noise issues.
