    HD580s are a hit!

I now have my two headphone outputs on the M-Audio unit calibrated to the same reference level, one for the HD540s, the other for the HD580s for easy use and comparison. One other possible factor for the HD540s seeming slightly more detailed is that the foam liner inside long since disintegrated...

    HD580s are a hit!

About the first thing I did here on Head-Fi was to locate a new pair of headphones. Probably not that rare. My old HD540s have a flaky connection in one capsule. I bought rocktboy's modded HD580s. I'm not sure if there is another place for this, but I can't post on his for sale thread yet, so I...

    Anyone calibrate their monitoring gain?

    Anyone calibrate their monitoring gain?

I didn't see a thread on this, so here goes... The broad questions are: 1) do you try to consistently set HP monitoring levels? 2) do you try to qualitatively or quantitatively adjust for the "loudness" (degree of compression) of the program material? and finally 3) do you set...

Thoughts on using Hafler power amp with HD580s?

First post in this forum and a question

I posted my first message over in the amp forum, since that's what I'm working on. In brief, I'm not a headphones first kind of guy. I mainly work on my own recordings of my own music and have a high resolution monitoring rig and monitoring space for that. Headphones are what keep me going...

Thoughts on using Hafler power amp with HD580s?

Hi, folks. This is my first post. This place is a handy source of way more info than I'll probably ever need on headphones. Very cool! I'll post a bit of my history here to get started and more later in the headphones forum, but right now I'm thinking about amps. I've mainly been using a pair...
