I've had the Senn 580s and the AT AD900s. I listen almost entirely to blues. Neither of those headphones worked for blues. The Grado 225, or even a lower model, will knock your socks off - without an amp. Grados are wonderful for blues! Mooch

This is a very individual thing. I find any closed phone, most open circumaural, and any on-ear leather or p-leather pads make my ears hot. My best luck (other than iems) is with Grado comfies. It seems that a lot of head fiers would probably disagree with me. That's okay. My ears work the way...

Grados have an easy-to-bend design and with some fiddling they can be bent/adjusted so that they put little pressure on anyone's ears. I also have a large head and I find Grados with comfies to be comfortable once adjusted. They also stimulate less sweat than most other headphones I've owned...
