(HD6XX + Liquid Spark + SDAC) or (HD58X + $230)
No when it's said that better headphones scale with better amps and dacs it means they take advantage of them while lesser headphones max out with lesser associated equipment. This is separate sound quality issue, different, I think from impedance and drivability. Here is a quote from a...- Mortsnets

(HD6XX + Liquid Spark + SDAC) or (HD58X + $230)
I own the Liquid Spark amp and 58x. Although you can drive the HD58X without an amp I think it is a you will be much happier in the long run with an amp (and dac). I have read that the 58x does not scale with better gear like the 6xx so if you can afford it and plan to upgrade the second...- Mortsnets

Schould I buy a schiit Jotunhiem?
No experience with Jotunhiem but my Modi Multibit is way better than my Modi V1. Also I use a usb/coax converter and coax spdif input to the Modi 'cause it sounds better.- Mortsnets

Looking for replacement for PM-3? What sounds similar?
The AQ Nighthawk Carbons are extremely comfortable. I've heard that the Nighowl (closed) are also very comfortable. I can't say they sound a lot like the PM3s - I like them better.- Mortsnets

Need advice, please
Don't rule out Grado. Try a Grado SR-60 for $69 or less. Lots of bass, more refined than a Portapro. I would advise against Sony MDR-7506 not as much bass as the SR-60.- Mortsnets

Repairing Senn HD201
Thanks for the replies! I'm sure I have a soldering iron somewhere in the garage but my record with diy is consistenly bad, so Headroom has emailed me a copy of the receipt/invoice and I've started the process with Sennheiser. Hope you don't need the original box.- Mortsnets

Repairing Senn HD201
My HD201 drops the left signal unless I position the cables just so and then if I move at all it's gone again. Is there a way to repair or replace the cables/wires cheaply?- Mortsnets
